Kuching, Tarakan, Kuala Lumpur all should be attacked on the 27th of Dec., Manila, Clark field and Subic Bay are all contested by the IJA. Units are prepped for major targets in the next 15 days. Part of me feels badly for pushing hard, but at least I am operating under air cover.

Don't worry about the inevitable, cut your losses, and delay the opponent's strategy as much as possible. I've edited it from one go to the next, sometimes in some places a bit more of it, sometimes less. Of course this is from hindsight, the actual contestants were still fighting WWI to some degree and had to learn the hard way. The reality of air power, both land and sea was not understood by most. All us wargamers try to out Napoleon Napoleon, and R E Lee (and Pierre Toutant de Beauregard as well). Starting in '43 if not sooner, I'll be trying my U S Grant immitation.

A few comments I'll make at this point. Raiden's development in Malaya has seemed slow to me. His development in the DEI is a bit faster than I'm used to. Burma, he may be slower than I would normally expect, but I'm not certain yet, and I wouldn't blame him if he were. His subs have seemed to me to be particularly well placed, and aggressive, but sometimes too much. One ran into a bunch of mines at SF, another hit one in Seattle, while another went upriver and visited Portland, sinking an AKL where there were no mines or ASW for that matter. Otherwise they've been very pesky, entering harbors to a greater extent than I've experienced before. I'm still at a loss as to where his major thrust will be, though I've had suspicions throughout, they've changed, and I don't know what I'll think in a week from now. At this moment he has a KB consisting of three CVs (I believe) motoring about in the DEI. This suggests to me that he has no immediate further plans in the Coral Sea area, but he may be bolder than I think. His tempo is fast and well maintained throughout, and I'm particularly in trouble in Cathay. I've never figured her out, but I'll keep trying.

A couple comments on the comments.  The relationship between Malaya, Burma, and the DEI is directly proportional, there are only so many troops.  ONI should have figured out the west coast subs were midgets. [:'(]  Stay tuned for the Coral Sea.
