Very nice raid on Legaspi! Those two CS are convertable to CVLs later in the game, so getting them is a major coup! I wonder what he was thinking to park two CS with that convoy. They should be used like carriers, and never embedded in a convoy. They should only park at a major base, well protected by mines.

Great job getting that TF.  Those CS's are a great prize, as BBfanboy said.  Keep it up.

They actually start the campaign in that Amphib TF... Same with some AMcs, ACMs, TK and an AO in the Guam invasion TF.

AH - I see, and he would need to keep them in the convoy so they could travel at warp speed for the first turn, but surely they should have been split out after that. However, I believe godochaos said both sides were newbies to the game and it is a very steep learning curve in the school of hard knocks!

I think the my Japanese opponent has played a little PBEM as Japanese before, hes not as green as me. I didnt want to take on a totally new Japanese player and have them screw up the economy, so I requested someone who had a little experience, but not too much.

Questions for wise men: I ran everything out of PI and was very very successful, a little too successful. What would I need at the PI port in order to rearm torpedos on a PT? none of my darn PTs can rearm!

Dec 15
Rabaul invasions continues and the CD guns hit 3 ships with some good fires lit
SAG raids rabaul anchorage and Canberra beats up 4 AKs
Jap SS torpedoes a TK congrats to my opponent on that juicy prize
Ally SS hit and AK, AP

We do the 1st of many bombardments on Singkawang and damage 13 bettys on the ground
Rangoon air Japs lose 1 we lose 4
PI Japanese lose 1 we lose 3, clark in ruins, im starting to withdraw some groups
PI port 2 AKs from HK are unloading 8000 supplies, thankyou baby!

Kuantuan we bomb 2 x AKs with fires now

Japanese capture Kavieng
Rabaul holds, Wake Holds

I had no trouble rearming my PTs at Manila - I think the right combo of port size and naval support from HQs/BFs did the trick.
Otherwise, AGs/AGPs normally service PTs, but I am not certain about the torps. ADs, AEs or AKEs are called for to rearm torps on a DD where the base and naval support is not high enough, so they might also handle PT torps. I couldn't find specific reference to PT torps in the manual. A level 7 base will handle rearm of any torps.
If you can't get them armed in the southern Philippines islands, send them to Soerabaja while you still have intermediate bases to fuel them.

We bombard Singkawang 2 times and dmg 9 bettys, then we bomb the airfield, this place is shut down
Rangoon air we lose 2 japs lose 1

Rabaul fights off a del atk and has zero fort

Dec 17

Ally subs torpedo 1 ship, Japanese subs have a great turn and are finally operating off the west coast, they get 5 different ships, most are sunk. None are very important but its still a serious problem

KB may be at Roi namur
CVL sighted above PI
CVL sighted below davoa it attacks one of my SAGs and sinks a DD and puts 1 torp into a CL
The activities of the CVLs may end the golden age of my SAGs having so much fun awwww

Kongo supports landing at Mersing and seems fine after taking 9 bomb hits last turn. My torpedo bombers at Singapore will only drop bombs grrr i wonder if i need an AGP at Singapore. but we get 3 hits on Kongo
Rangoon air we get 5 japs

Brunei falls
Hollandia Falls
Rabaul holds off an attack
Wake holds off a fresh landing

A comment about China, I have not mentioned China because nothing is going on. He bombs a little here and there but thats it. I assumed hes just ignoring it. But when I look at it more closely it seems that he is moving units. So perhaps he is concentrating for an offensive. I may need to really sit down and take a look at this, I've been taking it for granted.

Not sure why my torpedo planes at Singapore will not use torpedos, this is the single most serious issue impacting me right now. I am missing out on a lot of kills because he is being very aggressive at Mersing and Kuatuan

I wonder if the group's NavT rating is too low for the leader to be confident enough to take off? Is their NavB or LowNav rating any better?
I know on the US Carriers, the TBD Devastators will not take off with torps unless the conditions are nearly perfect - good weather at both take-off and target hex, range of less than 4 hexes, enough fighter escorts, and a final meal of steak and eggs before launch ...

You've done a good job screwing up his plans and sinking his ships.  As per TT'd.  Going to ask a stupid question.  Does your HQ's have TT's in their inventory?

Let me tell you.  You are doing a great job with this game so far.   You might be setting yourself up pretty good when 43 comes along.  He will have to slow his operations down now, to bring in fresh ships troops and ensure that he will have combat vessels around his new amphib forces.

Thanks for the encouragement, regarding the TT at Singapore, they are flying missions and bombing very well they just don't go in with Torpedos, I will check the leadership and HQ next turn.

KB is sighted near Guam this is a relief to know where it is
Ally SS tear up 2 AKs

HK holds
Kuching Falls

Singapore air bombs Japanese at Kuching see screenshot below, and we did a 2nd raid with 2 more hits

Re: the PBYs, just check the air losses in the Intel report and if there are a bunch of PBY ground losses last turn, they were indeed on that ship.
He is not doing a good job of providing air cover for his landings - is KB doing anything useful [to him] over at Guam? He should have his escort carriers at least covering his North Borneo landings/supply runs until LBA can take over.
Keep poking at those soft spots! [:)]

BBFANBOY!!!! thanks so much for that tip, I have so many ships running around sopac that when one gets torpedoed I sometimes dont know what was on it. Thats a great idea

Regarding the wildebeasts and the Swordfish at Singapore not using Torpedoes I found that they are commanded by 224 RAF and indeed 224 RAF has no torpedos, same with the other HQs here. Very dissapointing news. see screenshot!
I have an AS and AGP headed to Singers, maybe this will help, I dunno. Seems crazy to me that a HUGE base like Singapore has no torpedoes for the torpedo planes there. odd
