Advice needed

Hello, after downloading the game I would like to try my hand at modding the unit graphics, specifically the soldier icons. I've only ever modded one game in my life so I'm (for all intents) a complete newb. What do all the extensions in the name refer to (-HUD, -Queue, -info etc)? I would like to only mod what I see on the actual game map- what should I be looking for?

Are there restrictions to what I can do?

Any info you can provide would be great!

You'll find the graphics inside the folder Data\Graphics. The units are in Data\Graphics\Units.
