So how does the campaign stack up?

Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog is the first new release (not a re-make of a previous games) in years in the critically acclaimed Close Combat series. It details the desperate German counter-attack at Mortain, the last chance of the Wehrmacht to stave off defeat in Normandy. Can you match the tenacity of the American defenders of Hill 314? Or can you succeed where the Panzers failed, driving through to the sea and changing history? Improved 32-bit graphics and the ability to control more squads than ever bring the Close Combat engine to a new level.

So how does the campaign stack up?

Post by SapperAstro_MatrixForum »

And the overall gameplay next to the last Close Combat games released?

Might be a bit early for this question, but by all means, take your time in answering it if you haven't yet formulated an answer...

Not looking for any of the old chestnuts in this thread (AI is terrible, blah blah), just what other CC lovers think about this game compared to the last few releases regarding the battles, operations, campaigns and content.

I'm playing through the historical campaign as German right now, about 2 days in. Plenty of challenges and setbacks keeping me interested.

One thing I note is that you can assign support assets, and if you don't use them, they carry over. This means I always allocate them fully in each turn, and then just don't use them if I don't need to. Why leave them unallocated when they can instead be "on-call"?
