Has anyone else noted that Raiden is strangely quiet? His carriers are no where to be seen either. He is rubbing his hands together watching his diabolical plans develop, plans no one could predict, and he is terrified that he might give something away if he said anything. Let me key you in, he has a company of Samurai loaded on an ocean tug entering New York harbor even as we speak. They carry with them a weapon of unspeakable potential (only because I can't read katanka or pronounce it) but are only armed personally with bows and arrows, and swords. They are blissfully unaware of the danger they face when the street people of NYC discover them. Let them rest in peace.

3/19/42 The Yokosuka 3rd SNLF naval paratroopers are no more. [8D] It's a shame to lose an elite unit like that. There's still the Yokosuka 1st SNLF. Perhaps they will avenge them.

Raiden now has two divisions at Port Moresby, plus artillery and such. The mosquitoes are overjoyed.

Some of his carriers have reappeared near New Caledonia. Surprise, Surprise.

3/23/42 Mogami made a visit to Cox's Bazar but with only a CL and a couple of DDs it barely made an impression. His carrier group that appeared near New Caledonia has disappeared. This is probably due to a lot of very bad weather in the area. Some float planes made an attack on Noumea coming from Koumac, so this suggests to me that the minor KB is moving on to somewhere else. You may think it unwise of me to give such information out, but I am not beyond desception, and if Raiden didn't know it before (which I doubt) he does now.

Here I include displays about my fighter pilot situation. I believe I've done much better than I've done before in this regard, and I think that's very important. I'm especially glad about the small number of KIAs in my top pilots display. Something odd I don't understand yet, actually two things: I don't understand the discrepancy between the top pilots display and the reserve pilots display insofar as the second has a pilot with 7 kills who is not shown on the first display. Comments on this are appreciated. Second puzzle for me is that Boyington was at a (general) experience level of 83 or 84 when I sent him to the reserve with the intention of sending him to TRACOM, but the next day he was listed as WIA, and then, once he came off that listing, he only had a (general) experience score of 75. Any comments about that will also be appreciated.

I know next to nothing about how the pilot training/kill credits work so I will offer pure conjecture"

1. The pilot with 7 downed aircraft crashed them all during training [X(]
2. Boyington returned to the States, went to a bar, bragged too much and got into a bar fight. He was hit over the head with a bottle and now has blurry vision, lowering his abilities and thus his experience score. [:(]

3/25/42 Here's the results of his assault on Batavia. Obviously he can afford equal exchanges more than I. [:(]

4/3/42 Additional Japanese forces are about to arrive in Noumea marching down from Koumac. They will have contracted malaria by now. I have no idea how long it takes to recover in the resort city of Noumea, with its famous spas and what all.

The other day Mutsu took a fish (1 out of a spread of 6) from a US sub near PM just before her TF was to bombard there. Ise, Hyuga and Nagato continued on while Mutsu began her retreat. She appeared to be making pretty good time so she's not badly hurt, as you would expect. I figure adding the time it takes to get to a shipyard, get repaired and return will be 10 weeks or more.

Following the bombardment, Raiden landed some more troops including a tank regiment. A shock attack followed. The computer must have ordered it, but it looks like he may have lost up to 75 of those tanks. Still a success I think, having reduced the fortifications a level.

Raiden crossed the Chinese border from Burma and is fighting his way toward Paoshan, having reversed the BFF brigade from the first hex of Chinese territory. BFF, best friends forever? It's a Commonwealth unit, but that seems rather optimistic. It and a Sikh battalion stand between him and Paoshan.

Here is the tank battle at PM.

Raiden seems to be reluctant to entertain our guests, so apparently that is up to me until I can tease him into posting more often. I was trying to think what you all would be most interested in, and I settled on the most obvious answer, you want to know more about me. You may think I'm quite young judging from my appearance, but I assure you I'm quite old in your human terms, and positively ancient in dog years. For instance ...

As you no doubt know, when the Beatles came over in '64 Ringo was not the drummer. He took over after I became tired of it.

One of the most important roles I have filled was the foremost military advisor to President Lincoln and his favorite General. Here is a Daguerrotype of me with the President and his security chief. We were at Antietam, and Alan and I were of the opinion that things did not look good. You can see here Alan Pinkerton reaching for his flask of Southern Comfort while I am reaching for my flask of Arcturian Brandy. Abe, if I may call him that, would have none of it.

I know for a fact that Raiden has many a tale to tell. I understand his diaries contain detailed information about every house of the rising Sun from Singapore to Tortuga, including their records of laundry expenditures. Do not underestimate this man.

Well, we are into April, and we have sieges everywhere, Batavia, Soerabaja, Singers, PM, Noumea.  In china he has pulled back from Changsa but is still contesting my entry into Sian.  I have a feeling some of these will break loose soon.  I wil say that those lizards are awfully good at the telephone pole defence, but I think alot of the much slower ground combat pace is the stacking limits.

Well, the moment you've all been dreading has arrived. I'm back.

I almost achieved something in common with Long John Silver, and I'm not referring to his bird, Captain Flint. I shiverrrred me timberrrrr. Well not actually. I had a thrombosis in my leg and came close to losing it. Everything's fine, but I may have had a slight personality shift. Arrrrrrrrr! I'm sure I'll be back to my green scaly self soon.

I must warn Raiden though. I would've whupped yo ass on one leg same as two!

4/16/42 A few days ago Port Moresby fell with the surrender of all allied troops. For the second time (the first claim was withdrawn) Mutsu is reported sunk, but I don't believe it for a second. At the time of his first landings of troops at PM, I had about 320 mines in that harbor. To date I have only received one report of one mine hit on one ship. I believe it was CL Katori. It also was reported (some days later near Milne Bay) that she sank due to a mine, but I believe the great majority of the damage to her was done by CD guns at PM. Perhaps Raiden will give us some idea if there were more mine hits and on what scale. Pretty please?
