SWiE under Linux!!!

Strategic War in Europe is a grand strategy game where you command one or more of the 25 countries in the game. War, diplomacy, technological progress, recruitment, conquest – this is all in your hands. There are no restrictions to the actions you can perform during your turn: unit movement, purchase, attack, technology investment, reinforcement, all of those can be done at any moment during the turn.

SWiE under Linux!!!

Post by borsook79 »

After getting rid of the intro video and changing the OS to windows 7 I had great results running the game under Linux. I tried it on 2 completely different laptops (different GPUs and CPUs) and in both cases it ran great. What's more one was below the minimal requirements and still it ran very fast and snappy.

It works so good that I think it would be possible to pack it together with wine and sell in Ubuntu Software Center. Of course a proper port would be great, but we already have one game (Limbo) that is distributed and sold like that under Linux and there are no problems with it :)

Hi Borsook,

Thanks for the info. We didn't tested the game before, but this is indeed very good news. Did you tried the 1.06 version also?

So most probably if SWiE is running, then ToF should also be able to run under Linux
