Wow, from Your perspective my defences near Vyzama look quite formidable. It certainly didn't feel that way.

For me it was question of rotating the troops - stabilise front, but don't expose to many units.

Yes I think You could hold it one more turn. But the biggest surprise for my was leaving Donbass, I think my southern raid and joining fronts affected you.

Southern raid was important, but decisive factor was imminent arrival of Transcaucasus front. I feared, that without committing more panzers holding Stalino won't be possible and battles near Vyazma already forced me to use more reserves than I wanted. Plus, it was area where You railhead was close to the front so reinforcements could be quickly deployed and give You Donbas region even despite my efforts and render all suffered attrition meaningless.

Dispatching German mountain troops to AGC left me without reliable counter-attacking force so I didn't dare to gamble.

T30 Soviet. 08.01.1942 Belgorod-Kharkov operation. Unfortunately units of SW front is being late to take part. The rest is too weak to take this important point.

T30 Soviet. 01.08.1942 Leaving Stalino is the biggest surprise for us. We weren't expect to take it even in February.

T37. 26.02.1942. Results of Winter campaign.

I skip few january and February turns because they were not very interesting except unsuccessful for Red Army Belgorod-Kharkov operation. Better Kamil will highlight the main events of his defense there, it was risky but clever.

We liberated (temporary) Estonia without any resistance and were within few hexes from Vitebsk. Kamil totally left the North theatre in favour of Smolensk region and stopped our offensive on the line Zapadnaya Dvina - Roslavl. Our last victory in the center was Spas-Demyansk. We also liberated Bryansk.

I think the Blizzard was normal taking into consideration that German army run in the North and South all Decemer and half of January. Nerertheless, we were able to enforse Vermacht to accept battle with our elite armies in Central sector where some tank reserves were used. Also Kamil used tanks many times during counterattacks in the South and this was exactly we wanted to achieve.

Now we expect hard but hopeful times. God save Holy Russia! Za Rodinu za Stalina!

T38. 05.03.1942. North. German creates visiility of high activity here. Four divisions including guards are in pocket. We don't beleive that these tanks will stay here for a long time. However we leave Estonia to exclude any risks. Our operative target to hold Pskov.

T38. 05.03.1942. Center is extremely strong, we even attack here to interfere the deployment of German exhausted infantry. All Volkhov front including both Shock armies gone to the South.

T38. 05.03.1942. South. More than 25 fast german units here so our main operative target to prevent crossing frozen Don and creatie a bridgehead. 3 and 4 Shock armies are here but they still aren't subordinated to fronts. We recognize Voronezh-Lipetsk-Tambov triangle as the most important area so we organize carpet defence before the river to avoid any risks.
