Blohm + Voss BV 222...=6 :P

Doh! Two answers....I was reading a book called "The Worst Aircraft of the World", which included the Me-323 and it misinformed me that the Gigant was the only 6 engined plane in the war.

The counter is "LND Ju-290B" for the Junkers Ju-290B.

The Dornier Do X the German 6-Engine flyingboat has no counter.

The NAKAJIMA G10N1 FUGAKU Japanese 6-Engine Bomber has no counter.

Ju-290 = Four engines. I think I put up a neat quiz question about this one a year or two back in this thread. The only Axis aircraft landed on the North American continent by Luftwaffe personnel.

Ju-390 = Six engines. Two prototypes built.

Do X = Flown in the 30s before the Nazis, museum piece by 1939. Destroyed by the RAF in a bombing raid. That one was also in the 'Worst Aircraft' book.

Nakajima 6 engine bomber = no prototype built, existed on paper only.

So BV-222 and Me-323 remain the only "operational" answers. The BV-222 only existed in numbers less than 20. I do like building the BV-222 when playing WiF when I get Germany really rolling.

What WWII plane has a WiF counter and did not use a petroleum based fuel?

I thought that would be an easy one.

This plane could well be the shortest aircraft on any WiF counter, though I don't know for sure it is THE shortest.

yes on both there Jeff. Me 163 = the "Komet". The next clue would have been that this aircraft has WiF counters for two countries ... but no Lend-Lease stripe.

I was going to move on to a hint about how many awards for valor for flying the Fairey Battle.

yep. two U-boats sunk, one blimp shot down along the way. USN had a plan to re-activate blimps in the 80s, but the USSR disintegrated first.
