Combat Odds

Post by Amaranthus »

I've read CTGW manual a few times, and all the posts on these forums. After a number of games, I now have a good feel for supply, but do feel that combat mechanics are still a bit of a 'black box'. So, I wondered if any of the Lordz folks could offer us a bit of a summary, similar to the one detailed for Panzer Corps here: tm.asp?m=2994803 (even better, if anyone is keen, a FAQ like this would be great: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 21&t=27283)

For instance, I've worked out from reading the forums that an assault bonus reduces entrenchment by the same amount, and a few other bits and pieces, but nothing comprehensive. What are the exact effects of efficiency, attack strength, base defence, move-before-attack penalty, river defence, port defence for ships, etc. on the final combat odds? Basically, I really like to "do the math" or at least understand it better!

(Never got a response on this over at the Slitherine Forums, so thought the Matrix Forum might be more productive!)
