Rifle Corps TOE

Post by morvael »

I don't understand this. The rifle corps was supposed to be a sum of 3 rifle divisions (unlike the Tank Corps with it's unique TOE that is not a sum of 3 Tank Brigades), yet the upgrade path (the dates and the composition) for Rifle Corps TOE is different from 3xRifle Division TOE.

They start as 5 Brigades and changes to 9 in the 42c model during fall.

Yet another reason not to create that many during '42 (at 20 AP each).

Quite confusing, the TOE is based on 5 to 9 brigades as you say, but they split always to 3 "divisions" (which you can't form from 5 brigades in any way). Now at least I understand the difference in TOE between corps and divisions.

Thanks!

Well, the 3 divs to corps is the games way of having it happen. U cant have 5 unit or 9 for that matter in a hex so if doing it that way is limited by other things with in game engine, aka stacking limits.
Actually u can form a a corps with 5 bde's, tho not directly. As u can make a corps with combining 3 divs or 2 divs and a bde. So use 2 bde to form into a div, do that 2 times seperatly. Move those 2 into the same hex and add a bde too. Thats 5 bde's to form one corps.

Kind regards,

Rasmus

What was confusing for me was that once formed the corps is composed nominally of 3 divisions (each has it's own number and guard status), yet the TOE is not that of 3 divisions but 5 to (later) 9 brigades. So it starts weaker than 3 divisions and end up stronger than 3 divisions, and does not follow the division upgrade path times three.
