Our target is the CA SCTF and the base at Dobo. Our air is at Boeala and the two bases on the north of New Guinea. Lots of troops have recently arrived at Dili (including an air HQ) and Sorong (inclusing and air HQ). Moving in more fighters now we have the air support.

Thinking of counter landing at Dobo with a mixed Bde...

We tried an attack with Nells this turn... not enough escorts flew and KB was socked in (so was Dobo a bit).

Wow. A lot going on. I know a lot of reinforcements arrive in the spring of 44. Where is most of this heading for you? Have you also begun to bring back any of the Central Pacific forces to consolidate into a tighter perimeter?

Thanks Obvert, yes there is! Lots of base units have been arriving, most are off to the DEI. Some divs will arrive soon as well, at least one will be bought out, not sure where it will go yet. Lots of IJNAF units also arriving, have no pilots in the pools though and am reluctant to drag them forward.


Battle for Dobo 21-23 March
Over the last few days we have been trying to supress Dobo. The initial air attacks have failed, his fighter strength was too much so first Mini KB then KB have become involved until bobardment forces could get out of repairs.

We have a third Bombardment TF now on a run in, have AKE and AO's at Ambon as a support base so will keep KB around one more day before it moves back to safety. Have moved in 100 Army bombers and have another 100 ready when we have the air support. We are going to ounter land at Taberfane and may counter land at Dobo.

So a poor start but we now have the upper hand, Dobo is to far away from any support except by his 4E bombers.

The real aim of this is to convince Andrew that doing bold deep moves is a bad thing, and to hurt him while we can. This should force him back to a methodical battle that should generate the delay we need.

Things will change in a few weeks though when the B-29 start to appear, we will need to protect our oil fields with fighters... not sure there are enough to go round

We are pulling more stuff out of the SWPAC. The next line of defence is complete and occupied, and there are no signs of him pushing in the SOPAC SWPAC or CENTPA areas. These forces are now being moved to the DEI.

Well it certainly is starting to feel like soon we will have the straw that will break our back. Starting to concentrate for the defence of Singapore (wish to deny it to Andrew for as long as possible). Palembang will also become untenable soon, that will really hurt.

With almost no oil surplus except in China (and all the oil producing locations sucked dry) I'm really suprised that we only have about 77 days of fuel, and maybe another 30-50 days available.

Have started to shut down more HI production in the Home Islands, that will affect supply... we are at about 640k in Japan.

Have started to really cruch the shipbuilding as well.



Things I'd do different next time That I'm Thinking at the Moment
I think we possibly went a little overboard on our air research, this cost us a lot of supply. But I'm not sure how much we could tone back either...

Oil Oil Oil. Repair it and ship it back. Even the smaller places. You need it all.

Manage the ship building better. We produced a lot of stuff we didn't need, small xAK in particular. We did a better job on the warfighting ships but could have managed it a bit better.

Fuel conservation. We went a Viking with the fleet a lot, that cost us a fair bit in fuel. Conserve fuel where you can.


Things we did good
Air production / Reserach. We are still relatively capable in the air due to the effort we put in early.

Ground combat. Overall our fighting on the ground has been very good.

Overall strategy. Our overall strategy has worked well.

An overlooked area for Japan is in sending multiple groups of engineers to various bases to expand them and build forts. Unlike the Allies, this effort takes some time and needs to be done throughout the war.
