Stalingrad questions

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Stalingrad questions

Post by Jamm »

While designing scenarios for this map, I want to make sure I have everything right.
I need some help in making sure I name the buildings properly.
I've numbered the buildings and hope our knowledgeable members can help me out.
I know #15 is the Kommisars house and I believe #14 is the Red house

From my copy of ASL Red Barricades

1 Martin-Electro Furnace
2,4,5,7,8,13 Manufacturing Hall
3 Gun Construction Hall
9 Gun Tube Thermal Processing and Deburring Hall
10,12 Foundry Hall
11 Assembly Hall
17 Assistant Power Plant and Oil Heating

As far as I'm aware (ASL Scenario RB7) The Red House and The Commissar's House are the same thing and are no.15 on your map.

As you've probably noticed, ASL Red Barricades map has the Chemist's Shop (aka Apotheke) rubbled, whereas it was very much present for the November pioneer assaults (and possibly later, must look up the date it got nuked). Minutae :-)

6 I've no idea..no building looks like that on the maps I'm looking at...

16 is possibly the chemist but again it's shape is more like the Kindergarden but looks abit to big to be the kindergarden..the chemist was L shaped building if you turn the L anit clockwise by 180 degrees. I'd say it's the Kindergarden, but that means a major building is missing which is the Chemist which should be between the Kommissar and the Kindergarden..on the side of the road of the Kindergarden..

If 16 is the Kindergarden then you have the school house missing which would be further towards the factory from the Kindergarden, behind and in the center of the two long buildings you have just west of the Kindergarden..it would be a two hex long building with a tiny bit sticking out each end towards the factories (see the last map you put up which is alot more correct than the ASL RB map....

14 the shape is the same as the end two houses of that street..it certainly isn't the red house which is a one hex building that would be abit further towards the river level with the Kommissar House..

I'm using Island of Fire book by Jason Mark which is probably the best book to reference to the battle of Barrikady..the problem is the ASL map your going by doesn't fully correspond to the actual real buildings, esp the Red House, the Chemist SHop, the school and the Kindergarden..pretty much all the main buildings you have infront of the Factories don't correspond to buildings that where there except the Kommissar house. So it's impossible to say what the ASL map makers where trying to do and what buildings are what once we get infront of the factories..

The Red House for instance is no where near that shape or that size or in that posistion..the map I'm looking at it's the exact shape for the end house at the end of the street which is L shaped..The Red House should be further back and a one hex building.

Jamm see the 344th SR unit? Well that house to the right should be L shaped like the house on the map you thought was the red house..it's house Number 78...

As Wolfe said the Chemist shop shouldn't be rubble..really not sure who made the ASL map but it certainly isn't historically correct in alot of parts..
