NEW PATCH DELAY
Matrix closed for the break. Do we wait until January now, Dave?

RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
No effense here but Iam, I was and I always will be, under the impression that Command Ops players are treated as second class players. This is one of the most expensive games Ive ever bought. I know its not Panther Games fault. Iam sorry but Iam really disappointed about the delay. Was so looking forward to playing CO during my days off.

RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
Searching the forum brings up a posting from April, mentioning the "halting" bug:
tm.asp?m=3075269&mpage=1&key=halting&#
So this makes it more than 8(!) months and we are still waiting.
Not even a hotfix to a bug that makes the game unplayable.
I suggest the team should talk to AGEOD who still publish patches
for their games even after years. And they are not so expensive.

RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
For some reason, updates have ALWAYS been the slowest coming for this series of games than any other I have owned. I have always assumed it was related to complexity but one thing I do know is that the Matrix guys couldn't care less.....sucks...

Disappointed as well; had hoped to play this gem during the holidays. Haven't played it for the better part of this year because of the halting bug. Not satisfied with customer 'care'.
RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
It would be strange if the patch isn't available before January 4th, considering that it was seemingly being uploaded to the server yesterday. Nothing the skeleton staff can't handle, I'd say.

I'm disappointed too. I was very much looking forward to doing some testing/playing over the Holidays, when I actually have some time. It seems like Dave met his deadline (I think based on what Matrix told him), but Matrix couldn't produce an installer in time. I'm no computer guy, but is it really that difficult to make an installer? I wish Dave would just post his Beta files as a .RAR, and we could just install them manually. It is a beta after all.

As did I, but historically Bastogne wasn't relieved until after Christmas.

RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
Well it wont be too long now..and plenty of other things todo..like be with the family..or other games..or read..or even Xmas TV. I haven't played CO for ages as I'm waiting for this next patch but I'm used to the wait for these things ever since COTA. I know in the end it will all come good, I know no one else is making wargames like this and I also know they are working on some more superb titles..with that in mind I'm willin got wait and after seeing the amount of work gone into the patches Dave puts out I understand why it takes awhile..it's a labour of love for Panther games..yet everyone demands they do this and that etc etc..just do something else until it arrives.
As for second class citizens on here...of course we are to a point..Panzer Corps and Battle Academy and Distant Worlds have been the big money earners this year hence the huge rise in growth for Slitherine group..so they will always put those games first.
We also have to realise that CO is most likely one of the most complex game son here, hence patches aren't going to come out at the rate of say a AGEOD game. Just read the previous patch lists for previous patches for all the games..it's a huge complex task just to try and fix one thing as it all has knock on effects some of which probably take months to fix.

[Removed in the spirit of Christmas]
RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
Matrix always seem to take an age to get an installer up..anything upto two weeks which is why I really didn't expect to see it before Xmas considering when Matrix received it.
As for Panther putting up the patch I'm not sure they are allowed too as they most likely have a Slitherine Group exclusive. I'm sure it's been mentioned before that it has to go through Matrix.

RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
I am also VERY disappointed with the support given by Matrix to this excellent game. It seems that providing a patch for Command Ops has always a low priority for Matrix. Similar delays have happened previously with this title.
Very disappointed.

RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
Hi guys,
First, apologies that this update has not already been made available. Dave did meet his deadline in sending this to us on December 17th. What we didn't expect was that both production staff would be out sick for most of that week and we had updates submitted before this one that were just as important. I still expected this would be done and released on Friday, but apparently that did not happen. I e-mailed Dave and will take a look tomorrow to see if there's any way that I can do a quick release for you all. I can't promise at this point, but I will try.
Sorry to disappoint you all, it was not for lack of effort in our final week, more directly because of the flu and a stomach bug. I know we were all putting in overtime and folks working with remote access from home while sick hoping to get all the updates done and released. Hopefully I will be able to do something about this tomorrow if I can find all the final project files that are needed to put the build together.
Regards,
- Erik

RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
The communication is much appreciated. A new patch for X-mas would certainly be proof of the existence of Santa Cluas!
RE: NEW PATCH DELAY
Thanks for the effort.
