Reach for the Stars 2005

Post by DeimosRuhk »

Does anyone know where I can buy a copy of the 2005 re-release of Reach for the Stars? I have checked the RFTS website, it's useless (except for teasing me), and Matrix has the game listed as discontinued. There are a few used circa 2000 boxed versions available, but my heart pines away for the 2005 re-release. [:D]

If you have a boxed edition from 2000, you can patch it to the level of the 2005 edition. The last patch is working for the cd-version as well.

That would be nice. Or maybe put in on Gamersgate, or even GOG. Not steam, though. I am still mad at steam. Don't understand why they don't keep it available on Matrix - was it really using up that many resources to keep it uploaded?

I'm guessing it has far more to do with the intellectual property rights than resources. Even then, would it really be smart for Matrix/Slitherene who have two top-notch space 4X games in the catalog, one exclusive, to provide free competition with themselves?
