Upgrade research and mining bases

Hello!

Does anyone know how to upgrade research and mining bases? I upgraded the design manually (so new bases are built to new designs) but I can't figure out how to upgrade the old ones. There is an icon when I select the base, but it does nothing. There is also no option for a construction ship. Am I missing something.

I tried scrapping the bases, that works, but of course I selected the one with all myresearchers... and they all died.

Bases can only be upgraded when at a colony.

Also remember to transfer any Scientists or other characters to your homeworld (or even a nearby, orbiting
ship) before you scrap a base, or a ship that has character(s) assigned to it.

You can upgrade bases from the Ships & Bases menu, regarldess of whether they're at a planet or otherwise. Select base, hit the retrofit button, select the design you want to retrofit to, and wait for a construction ship to go out and build the new components.

Can anybody confirm with what ceyan said?

i've tried doing this and it doesn't work... I was under the impression the retrofit button was incorrectly shown on these bases.

The retrofit button does still show on the screen w1p, but mining and other stations not
built at a colony will not retrofit. They have to be scrapped and the newer tech model
can then be rebuilt. That is also why one can't build more than one mining station (of any
race) at a non-colonized planet. Only in Gas Clouds. This should be addressed better in
Shadows.

Thanks for the insight, even if it is not what I wanted to hear. LEts wait for shadows an dionbetween our researchers live a dangerous life.
