Dadjangas is an afterthought now

Strictly speaking it's a before thought.

Ouch this one hurts

The trick is in not minding that it hurts.

I'm over it. How about you. [:)] But my legs still hurt from breaking up the firewood on the 24th and carrying it up the hill.

Sorry about Caradoc and her ignoble end as an ammo eater.

--2nd/102nd is indeed no longer with us. A moment of silence please.

--Cotobato is undamaged and has enough supply for aircraft

--Jolo has 24% runway and port damage but still lives

--FOW was a bit high on aircraft destroyed on the ground. We had 3 aircraft lost yesterday. 1 Corsair, 1 C-47 and 1 RAAF Cat

--The old guy in charge of the Washington force that didn't trust radar was Vice Admiral Towers. He disbanded his BB into port and transfered to Gwin. I'd say he deserves a medal after his victory over Musashi. Washington has some 20 mm mounts out and 5% flotation and 8% engine damage. Nothing that requires drydock but she should go back to Darwin.

--Only 140 troops of 8th Marine ashore so far at Taytay. 13 assault points. I think the taffy will have to retire unitl we have proper escorts.

--Those LYB transports in the Sulawese Sea do appear headed for Dadjangas. It's a proper task force with escorts and if they were headed to Taytay or Jolo or even Cotobato why steam south of Mindanao?

--North Carolina and South Dakota and Oakland with DD escorts are just making the turn around Ceram into the Ceran Sea. They are probably 3 days out from Jolo. With the two fresh BB's on station and Musahsi and Haruna dinged up, we will have surface superiority for a while.

Anyone think that 165 undisrupted marines can take Taytay from an LYB AF engineer unit if I send in a glass-eater colonel to lead them? They have no support units ashore yet and have zero prep for Taytay. JJ are probably a bit disrupted after bombardment by the CL in the amphibious force.

Some 3000 ton AK's unloding suppries at Jolo. Oh well.

Night Time Surface Combat, near Jolo at 74,90, Range 12,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BB Haruna
CA Takao
CL Naka
DD Akizuki
DD Teruzuki
DD Kisaragi

Allied Ships
xAK Anhui, Shell hits 9, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAK Adelong, Shell hits 12, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAK Iron Prince, Shell hits 18, and is sunk

Hory Crap! Musashi is following Haruna! A small group detached to drop of II Bn/102nd. Ouch this one hurts. Probably the whole Bn. is toast.

Night Time Surface Combat, near Jolo at 74,90, Range 12,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BB Musashi
CA Aoba
CL Agano
CL Kuma
DD Natsugumo, on fire
DD Asagumo
DD Tachikaze

Allied Ships
DD Banckert
xAP Wahine, Shell hits 3, and is sunk

Allied ground losses:
1265 casualties reported
Squads: 39 destroyed, 28 disabled
Non Combat: 41 destroyed, 17 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Even the battle in post 10044 was Musashi. Although possibly she was in camo to confuse the reporter and gain surprise.

Saki all around for the boys on Washington! Huzzah!!!

Why pull the TF back from Taytay? Let more guys unload then make the outcome a certainty. Worrying now is a bit like having unprotected sex with an IV drug user, then wanting to pull out so she doesn't get pregnant.

Nice operation, BTW. What do you call it again - "Engulfing Squid" or something?

I'm not sure all of them are relevant to the prosecution of this war.

But my legs still hurt from breaking up the firewood on the 24th

Shouldn't you use an axe or a hatchet?

Yes, there is that angle...and some of the LYB construction bn. troops are wearing adult diapers.

Lastly there are the erstwhile Tahitian girls at Bali Hai Club.

I worked out what the fight between Kuma and Sims/Gwin was all about. Towers and the LYB commander, after throwing 16 and 18 inch shells at each other until the magazines were empty, transferred to their only undamaged ships and went at it again. Two pit bulls.

Most of what remains of the 503rd PIR is aboard LCT's between Dadjangas and Jolo. They can go to Cotobato now and can air drop from the level 2 field there.

Admiral Lord Sprior;

SG took her laptop to work so I can't do the turn for a while. You can take the turn first if you wish. Please do a virus scan before sending if you send it from your bed.
