"New Game Decided On"

Advanced Tactics is a versatile turn-based strategy system that gives gamers the chance to wage almost any battle in any time period. The initial release focuses on World War II and includes a number of historical scenarios as well as a full editor! Thx for supporting your games. Put me in the camp of willing to throw some money your way for an update to this game. Might tick off some people, but i wouldn't care, your dedication to your games deserves to be rewarded and if it keeps you making more games then it's all good. Keep doing what your doing, your doing it the right way and other developers could take note. I just hope your fine games are selling in enough quantities to reward you for your time and dedication.

I´m very very happy with ATG [:D]. AI is an important issue to solve, sadly that´s the main reason so many people prefer always to play multiplayer. The resource mod (by lancer) used for multiplayer would be like a dream. I know these two improvements are difficult to do, so I would agree to pay for updates. When you update Advanced Tactics you´re improving DC cos AT is its root. In this way you´re killing two birds with one stone. Vic, Advanced Tactics could be a classic if you wish, and you know how to do it. [;)]

I still make some time available every week to work on updates for existing games, including Advanced Tactics.

Actually I have some exciting stuff planned for the next update... :)

How about we ask Vic to give us a place to donate to for helping him with the game? I could probably afford a few bucks. But usually only at the first of the month ) LOL

There is a big real life problem guys. Its not the money. Although the offer is appreciated. I am a ONE man studio. I cannot make a new engine and make an ATP or AT2 at the same time. Well... not at the same speed anyways.

For now my schedule for AT is to first make some patches with some experimental new features for the existing ATG game:
*Officers (like in People's Tactics) (around christmas i hope)
*Developing your own tanks and module-based research (around easter i hope)

If they work well, attract some new players I will consider doing an ATP or AT2. Such a game would probably focus mainly on AI and Interface improvements.

What I would be more interested in than in money is in some graphics volunteers willing to help make me new graphics for these new features.
Also some text writers for helping out with randomized biographies for the officers would be nice.

Best,
Vic

Excellent. [&o]

Anyways with respect to the volunteers thing, maybe one should sticky your request? In bold letters asking for some skilled volunteers? I know Rob (Warspite) from the World in Flame subforum... has done quite some work on naval write-ups, maybe he has some "connections" who can write randomized biographies. I'm afraid I'm no good at that.

Actually the officer graphics is 1000x more important request than the writing of bio's :)

I could use black and white pics from WW2... but it would look way cooler if we can find somebody to do some portraits in the same style as the unit artwork.
To be honest i really liked the style of these here:
tm.asp?m=3180979

since they get so close to the colorfull other artwork already in.

Love that art style as well especially the troops and all that. Hopefully there will be more troop variety in future ATs or promotion system where your normal infantry brigade could become a special forces unit if they meet certain conditions like if they won a lot of battles on mountains they will become a special mountain division or something like that.

Looking forward for more games from VR designs.

This reminds me C-evo (http://www.c-evo.org/) where all units (land, naval, air) are developed by the player. Too bad the game does not have PBEM option.

this game will be more innovative and i intend to make it bridge the gap between general strategy game titles and more wargamish titles.

ATG can be taken right down to where line of sight becomes important, so we're getting pretty tactical.

... and it will be St Andrews Day in a few minutes time, so we are running out of November.

Another tidbit I picked up in the Case Blue forum re Vic's new game:

"The new project is a more entry level wargame." (12/24)

He also mentioned he might start a second project along the lines of Decisive Campaigns. I would surmise based on this that an AT Platinum isn't in the offing anytime soon. That said, Vic continues to add new features to ATG and I believe by Easter he has stated we might see a more full featured production system that lets you model your own tanks.

Thats correct, adding a few big features to ATG is defenitely still in the planning. Another reason for postponing ATP is that the new mystery project is much more similar to AT than to DC and I want the upcoming releases to be as different from eachother as possible, as well as spend some of my time working on a historical game (DC).

Ideas are not the problem. Limited time for development is.

I have found a publisher for the new mystery title. So soon the veil of mystery will be lifted and some more information will then be forthcoming.
--------

Some news about a new PBEM system: I doubt this will be retrofitted onto ATG, but highly likely a future Advanced Tactics Platinum would support it. Of course, as the Twitter exchange below indicates, Vic's new mystery game almost certainly will.

Working on PBEM2++ system tweaks: we just found some server limits I'm going to get around!

Victor Reijkersz @VRdesigns 13 Jun
@AndreaN_Pet good to hear its getting close to finished :) what are pbem2++ best new features?

Andrea Nicola @AndreaN_Pet 14 Jun
@VRdesigns PBEM2++ lets you play 1vs1, in teams and games with multiple sides. It also lets clients freely customize their own parameters

Victor Reijkersz ‏@VRdesigns 14 Jun
@AndreaN_Pet cool! but will 4 or 6 player all against all also work?

Andrea Nicola @AndreaN_Pet 14 Jun
@VRdesigns yes! the system lets you play all against all, 2 vs 2 vs 2, or any other combination, there's no limit :-)

Victor Reijkersz ‏@VRdesigns 14 Jun
looking forward to implementing pbem2++ for my next title :)
