SOW - Failure

Yesterday 12/29 - I successfully uploaded the newest version of SOW - Gettysburg to my new HP laptop. All was going well ... I started the game and completed the first scenario without any problems. Since this was going so well - I decided to purchase both of the expansion packs - Pipe Creek and Antietam with some Christmas cash. I registered and downloaded the games and when I went to play - the text on the main menu were funky. Sort of look like blank boxes. I clicked the boxes and all of the text boxes are just boxes. Is this a bug that can get fixed?

Windows 8?
