SOUTHERN ARMY (Burma-Java-Ambon)

Enemy sitrep:
Major naval operation off Cocos island.
Naval supply operation west Sumatra/Padang. Purpose is probably to supply Djambi, which is a fortress (18th British Division, 11th Indian Division and three AAA regiments: AV is 879).

Current op:
TORA SAKUSEN: D+11: a naval battle occured off Cocos island. Details are in a separate battlereport.
11th Air Fleet and 3rd Air Division attacked two enemy resupply ships at Padang: 1 xAK and 1 APD sunk. Five enemy fighters shot down. Other suspected resupply ships spotted four hexes WNW Padang.
Due to the enemy efforts off Cocos island, near Sumatra and the enemy buildup at Djambi, a conference will be held tonight at Singapore with Southern Army, Combined Fleet and Southern Fleet. A decision need to be made if the planned landing at Cocos island should be prioritized over the rapid capture of Djambi.

Timor landing operation: Embarkation of the Koepang landing force (21st Division) will begin in 48H.
ACTIVATED: 15th ARMY Operation II: Conquest of Central Burma. 5th Air Division will begin embarkation at Manilla in 24H.

Planned op:
Establishment of safe convoy route and air patrol bases for ASW (Borneo-Philippines).
SOUTHERN ARMY: Landing on Cocos island (4th Division + 25th ARMY: 56th Division and 41st Regiment) .

Additional information:
Due to the bombardment, little 36cm ammunition was left for the naval battle with the enemy cruisers.

No carrier aircraft attacked.

40 Dutch bombers (139WH-3) attacked, mostly against 1st Battleship division. LRCAP shot down at least 20 bombers. (One notable fighter pilot, Sakai, S. shot down three, and now has six kills in total).

Own losses: 2 DD severe damage.
Estimated enemy losses: 1 CL and 2 DD major damage, 2 DD light damage, 1 small minesweeper sunk, 20+ aircraft shot down.

SOUTHERN ARMY (Burma-Java-Ambon)

Enemy sitrep:
Major naval operation ongoing off Cocos island.
No naval units discovered by air recce west Sumatra/Padang.

Current op:
TORA SAKUSEN: D+12: No naval surface contacts between Cocos island and Java. One PB sunk be enemy sub about five hexes west Batavia.
Result from the planning conference at Singapore: the planned landing at Cocos island is prioritized over the rapid capture of Djambi. TS-1 will be the landing on Cocos island (Southern Army: 4th Division, 56th Division and 41st Regiment), with KB1/3 in support. TS-2 will be the capture of Djambi (25th Army: IGD, 5th Division, 18th Division and 21st Division)(plus reinforcements from TS-1 and heavy artillery from Southern Army).

Timor landing operation: Embarkation of the Koepang landing force (21st Division) will begin in 24H. One enemy submarine (Grayling) was forced to surface near Ambon and was sunk by DD ASW TG (Inazuma & Ikazuchi).
15th ARMY Operation I: Conquest of Central Burma. 5th Air Division´s air assets will begin embarkation at Manilla in 24H. Other units, primarly air defense and base forces, are moving by road from Bangkok toward Burma.

RYUUOU SAKUSEN: The decision to order the 11th Army attack (as planned) was the most difficult decision made so far during this war. However, a "shameful" retreat without even trying to attack the enemy is not an option for the Imperial army. 11th Army will attack tomorrow as ordered. If the attack by 11th Army does not yield satisfactory results, China Expeditionary Army will immediately terminate the RYUUOU operation and assign 11th Army to the HOKUSHIN operation against Sian. Air support will be provided to 11th Army tomorrow IOT ensure success (eight enemy P-40E fighters were shot down over Henyang by Akagi Air Group today).

13th Army reports strong enemy ground and air attacks against its positions in forest hex west of Henyang. Defense might collapse in 48-72H:

Air and naval operation (reaction) at Cocos island. Suspected aircraft carrier TG NV Cocos island.
Ground movements in Sumatra towards Djambi - enemy might attempt a breakout with some units toward the west.

TORA SAKUSEN-1: landing on Cocos island: 1st Torpedo Flottila (CL Natori, 6 DD) is scouting west of Batavia/Xmas island. One PT-boat sunk one hex east of Cocos island.
TORA SAKUSEN-2: capture of Djambi oilfield: one dutch regiment (4th KNIL) was defeated southwest Djambi by 14th tank regiment. Another dutch regiment (NS KNIL) was stopped in the hex west of Djambi by 56th Recce regiment with air support.

HOKUSHIN SAKUSEN: General Shimomura (North China Army) reports that 1st Army is on the verge of collapse after enemy launch a major attack against the 41st Division. The 37th Division is also in danger of being overwhelmed in a few days. Enemy is also taking casualities. North China Army requests additional garrison units from Army Command in Manchuko IOT to free more troops for combat operations. North China Army will present a plan to attack Sian from four directions. The fourth direction (the main road from the south) need major reinforecments IOT succeed. Enemy sitrep:
Naval operation at Cocos island.
Enemy offensive in southern Sumatra - movements toward Benkolen.
Radio transmissions detected at Calcutta airfield.

Current op:
TORA SAKUSEN-1: landing on Cocos island: The landing TF is heading toward Palembang to embark troops. KB1 and KB3 will be ready to depart in 24H. Cocos island is surroundered by patroling submarines. 1st Battlship Division will support Tora Sakusen-2 during the next 48H.

TORA SAKUSEN-2: capture of Djambi oilfield: 5th Division has requested permission from 25th Army to launch an all-out attack at Benkolen as the enemy is on the verge of surrender. The attack will be supported by Southern Army Command by battleship bombardments and heavy air support (3rd Air Division).

Timor landing operation: Battle of Koepang: the third attack will be launched in 48H.
