Search for ground units

Post by LoneGunman »

Hi guys, I´m wandering if it is possible to use "naval search" air mission also for the patrol flight over the enemy territory. I need to know the movement of enemy troops and I don´t know how to use my air squads for this type of mission as recon flights are targeted on particular hexes...

Naval search will not spot ground troops. You can set air units to recon with no target and there is a slight chance that they might find previously unspotted troops.

w/ an airgroup tasked to recon, w/ no target specified, start w/ rng=2 & increase range by 1 on successive turns, at the same time you increase the rest %age so the group's morale stays high.

best to use an airgroup w/ high recon-skill w/ planes that have an elint/camera device, but you can use chumps in a pinch & deduce the location of enemy stuff by noting where they got shot down.

You can target recon specific hexes (even non-base) iirc. However, I've resigned to simply using picket troops to detect enemy forces on the ground. Any mobile unit type (favorably small and inexpensive to rebuild) are best.
