ORIGINAL: Blind Sniper
Highlights

You can see the fearless unit that captured Tarawa, 2/3 of the force is disable even if no enemy was there. [:D]
Good news! There's actually some units that enter the game that depend on 6th Base Force taking Tarawa; Yokosuka 6th SNLF, 3rd Special Base Unit, etc.. you know, the guys that were actually there and got immolated in their bunkers [;)] And you actually used units that did the deed irl! Kudos! Well done!

We are building some interesting operations by 6th BF, very similar to yours, into the AI. That is the whole point of having the Marshalls within the scenario game window.

You are doing good. Take what you can get. Victory Conditions are irrelevant; there are none. I'm sending you a pm on what works for Japan. It's a pm because I don't want your opponent to see it and second-guess it.

General
Two regiments and one infantry HQ reinforce Rabaul, their future objective is Guadalcanal.

Air Warfare
This time I tried a sweep mission on PM with two Zero squadrons but my guys lack of coordination and one of them was outnumbered, final score 6 (two were too damaged) to 12 in my favour.

Ground Warfare
Change my mind about Kokoda (the dot base close to PM), I will fight there trying to dislodge the Australian brigade, all 17th Army units in Buna will join this group, especially the flak one.
In this base I have 1160 supply and I can create a diversion for his aircraft/units.

I want to share Symon's advices for everyone willing to play this scenario:

The strategic imperitive, for Japan, is to survive and delay the Allied advance. And, as you have done, take a few places, like Tarawa.

Everybody knows how Guadalcanal played out, and everybody knows when the US divisions were operational, so why butt your head against a brick wall? Japan has a lot of troops coming in as reinforcements. They probably have 3/5 to 2/3 of Allied troops, but arrival timing is critical. Look at your troop arrival in the editor and plan accordingly.

The trick for Japan is to delay and sacrifice, while a realistic second and third line of defense is prepared. Have a list of units that you can throw into battle in out-of-the-way places like Tulagi or Russel Islands to disrupt the Allied build-up, but don't initiate the operation unless and until a reinforcement division is available.

The idea is misdirection by sacrifice. While your sacrificial lambs are getting the attention of your opponent, your reinforcement divisions are deploying to, and digging in at, your first defensive line. And so it goes, on and on. Pushed back, step-by-step, but intelligently done, will grind the Allied advance into falting halts.

Given that I don't mind if I win or lose I will send you this post to my opponet as well [:)]

A very different approach from stock where VP totals for Lunga, Tulagi, Milne Bay and PM forced players to fight for these objectives. Should be cool to watch.

I would add a naval component. The Allies have a ton of troops in time, but only so many carriers. It's hard to get better than an exchange in a CV fight, but look for ways to destroy his CVs with subs, LBA and CVs acting in concert. Shut down the USN and he will be left with predictable advances, no chance to leap ahead.

Yes, even if I will try to be agressive I don't want to risk some irreplaceable assets, but the obvious CVs the transport ships can be a big problem too, less cargo/troop space and not so much.

Now I need to understand if he will wait my counterattack or will try to push forward. As Allied I think there two ways, close the Rabaul airfield and take Buin or go for Marshall Islands.

In fact he can be attack on the left of the map trying to catch Babeldaob...

General
Checking the Ground Unit Reinforcement screen I will get an Infantry unit on Tarawa (34 days), maybe can be worth trying to keep this base.

Naval Warfare
Another hit for the silent weapon and again on the CA Vincennes, now she has been hit by two torpedoes and I really hope is enough to sink her.

Is that picture one of the two hits mentioned in the previous post, or a third hit?

Naval Warfare
I-168 miss an enemy DD (twice for this commander) and the enemy ASW TFs are doing a great job, one hit on I-123 and several attacks in the last turns, time to leave this area for a while!

I'm using the big transport tanks to refuel my DD/PB/APDs, each gallon is valuable. [:D]

If the sub makes it back, give the commander a medal for completing the mission!
