barges....

Post by Terp »

Been having a terrible time with IJN barges. My subs seem intent on firing with surface guns instead of torpedoes, and the barge return fire is deadly. The barges are eating me up.... also level bommer attacks are not so successfull either, target must be too small or something. Has anyone come up with a way to slow mass barge movement? One thing I'm trying is port bomming (to catch them unloading).... ????

thx
It has long been noted that some conquerors prefer enemies as fierce as tigers and brave as eagles, for only then can they savor the true joy of victory.

Strafing runs (alt = 100ft.) are quite effective but there appears to be a bug where only only barge is targeted at a time per strike.

BTW, You will find that P-39's & P400's are great in this role!!!

I've found this too - one barge will get 50+ hits and no others...
I'm essentially graphically and history oriented, unfortunately to connect the two I have to do maths. I hate maths.

Not related to barge attackts but related to barges.

I can't seem to find an answer to this question in manaul.

IJN Barges are set to routine convoy. But they only load three barges out of 15 with fuel. No barges are loaded with supplies. All barges set sail to destination port. Plenty of supplies at barge home port.

Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated.

HS & Terp

Yep, the Wirraway is excellent in this role as well.

As for subs and barges, keep intercepting those barges and your boats will get dinged on a regular basis and accumulate significant sys damage which will hurt because they are back in port repairing instead of hunting deep draft vessels with torpedos.
