New Subs going off under computer control

Post by ADavidB »

I was playing scenario 19 this evening against the AI and I noticed an "extra" sub at one point going across the map. It was a new sub that had just arrived at Noumea and it was going to Truk under computer control. I have the overall sub control set to "human control", so I didn't think this could happen. I put the sub, the Argonaut, under "human" control and sent it back to Noumea so that I could set it up as a mine warefare TF. The next turn I refueled the sub, it went to "1000" operations and I disbanded it, intending to send it out the next turn. Well, next turn there it was again, halfway to the Solomons, again under Computer control and again as a sub WF TF. Once again I took control and sent it back to Noumea. This time, however, on the next turn I disbanded it then turned it into a MWF TF and sent it off, and it behaved normally.

Then a few turns later I noticed another "stray" sub - this time the Grayling, going off on its own to Truk. Once again I sent it back to Noumea, and on the next turn turned it into a sub WF TF and it has been "well behaved" ever since. I've never seen this behavior in subs before, but then, I usually don't leave newly arrived subs in Noumea by themselves. Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks -

There's a setting on one of the options screens at startup. Turn it off and the program won't do that.

As I mentioned, it is off. That's why I don't understand why it is doing this.

I've seen it happen but can't shed any light on why. As you said, it goes away after a while.
