Except that it's at night, and a surface action. I'm saying USS Houston and HMAS Perth at Sunda Strait.

Great looking painting...thanks! I just read about that action in the book Ghost Ship. Takes a really good artist to do those night scenes.

S2 means Seaman 2nd class which would equate with a modern Seaman apprentice. S1 is Seaman (same as today , except it's written as Seaman.No class!). QM is a quartermanster , as it is today.
