Kaga's full load is not so full

Post by Knavey »

Kaga is rated for 81 aircraft. I have sent here back to Truk twice now and both times she has returned with only 80 planes. Has anyone seen here with more than 80 planes?

Here is a pic of the available a/c that could go onto here the turn that she returned to me.

Add one of those 9 plane D3A groups to her. That will bring her up to 89 which is within 110% of her limit so she will still fly. If she started with 81 planes instead of 80 you wouldn't be able to do this.

Well,

This is my "test" run for radar and AA ratings so it won't help me in my game with Feinder.

Are you saying that the air groups that are on her are already maxed out? Or is this just one of those things that will allow me to put a little extra punch on her? Will she ever get to 81 with the 3 available air groups that are assigned to her?

All of the other CVs that I have right now (IJN and USN) have maxed out with the air groups that are assigned to them initially.

Thanks,

You can check the max AC for those airgroups on the Kaga normally bro. If the total of them is 81, then they should fill out to max. Then again, there are several squadrons that get wierd pilot/plane/max ratios in for USN, so you may be having a similar problem. Again, check the sum of each indiv squadron's max, and see if it totals 81. If it does, then YES, there does seem to be something kloodgied (as you have the replacements to fill the squadron). If the total is only only 80, then it's working (and you might as well follow Yam's suggestion of putting the extra Val squadron on there).

Actually,

Its NOT working...3 refit trips, plenty of a/c in the pool, and the last plane never makes it onto the ship. This is in the test run game I am running to check AA and ASW loadouts for refit, so I know there is plenty of stuff available for her to use. Its just not doing it.

None of the CV airgroups actually have an assigned value for Maximum aircraft unlike all other airgroups in the game. It would seem that this is one of those hardcoded things.

Why are we stressing over 1 friggin aircraft? Seems a bit anal to me to worry 'bout 1 aircraft.

I've seen the same problem. It seems to happen when their are lots of spare aircraft in the pool. Somehow the Kate squadrons always 'downsize'.
However, simply counting the number of planes shown in the Ship detail screen dosn't tell you how many planes the ship is actually carrying. The only way to tell how many planes a CV actually has is:
a) Select a land base sqaudron and 'transfer to ship'. This will bring up the screeb which will tell you how many planes the ship actually has onboard.
b) Form a new TF with only that ship, and see the aircraft number displayed in the TF details screen.

The a/c shown in the ship detail screen are only the number of 'operational' aircraft, not the total number of aircarft on the ship. In my case, when i clicked on the Kate squadron I found that in addition to it's 20 ready planes, it had 5 planes in reserve, the total squadron strength thus being 25 planes (with 22 pilots). Thus the Kaga had a total of 85 aircarft, 4 over her capcity of 81!

Ok,

I checked in the game and the Kaga should have an airgroup with max size of 21 planes but it stopped at 20.

Its occuring in 2 different "games" I am running for testing purposes. I think it is also occuring in my pbem with Feinder but I will wait until I get the next turn to try and check it if Kaga is not back in japan.
