Ordnance Museum Field Trip

Post by Snigbert »

It looks like the Steel Panthers guys are planning a field trip to the US Army Ordnance Museum in Maryland on April 6th.

I'm going to plan on going down there, I heard it's a great place. If anyone from New England wants to hitch a ride with me and help out with the driving, drop me a line at Snigbert@cs.com

I recommend this trip highly. I live 20 miles from Aberdeen and make routine visits there. However you may to make sure they reopened the Museum for public tours (just in case nobody checked). They have had the museum closed down from time to time since 911 for security reasons. It is still an active military installation.

Hi, I used to volunteer there and they are reopened. The crowds and donations are severely down and I am sure they will be happy to see so many visitors. Dr. Atwater is a classy man and very approachable.

You will need to bring a proper ID, proof of registration and insurance and they will issue you a daypass at the tank row gate. If any of you are wanting a point of contact or phone numbers please feel free to PM me. I might even show up and give the nickle tour.

They are in the process of restoring several pieces so if you would like to know the disposition of any particular model please feel free to post it and ask and I will PM the data.

regards,

Hey BoomBoom

Just wanted to say Yo from a former Philly Boy. Moved down to the land of no sales tax, but still work over at the Navy Base. Well now we know that Philly is well represented.
