Just picked this up from the IL-2 Mission4Today forums:

The Husband Store.

A store that sells new husbands has opened in Manchester where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

There are six floors here. The value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 - These men have jobs.

She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids.

'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.' So she continues upward.

The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids, and are extremely good looking.

'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead good-looking and help with housework...

'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with housework, and have a strong romantic streak.


She is so tempted to stay, but she decides to continue on to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

The first floor has wives that love sex.

Zhirinovsky is one of a kind. Oddly enough, there are very well thought out and logical thing that come out of his face occasionally. But at all other times...ay dios mio.

Havent been following it really. As far as I understand, there's not much to say that hasnt been said already. I've learned to check back on things like this about a week later when the excitement has gone out of the story and you can get some sources to distil it to the bare facts instead a lot of speculation and general bs.

Ok, I'm kinda typing this as I'm cooking, so hope it's working for you.

I use a shallow/wide pan for the roux. I use the halfway marks for stove heat. I have Pink Floyd on the headset and spend 15-20 minutes stirring and scraping the roux till it looks the color of well treated oak. Then I move it to an empty burner and let it embroglio (another reason I use cast iron) till it's a deep mahogany. No muss, no fuss, no crusty crap to wash from the pan, and no burnt stuff to hurt the final gumbo. Da roux is da true.

Ok, I was doing Floyd, but it was a skoosh to heavy for what I was doing, so went with David Grissman/Jerry Garcia's Old and in the Way.

Most of those structures were built in the 60s and 70s, if not earlier. As I recall, my grandparents dealt with the insulation issue by gluing several layers of newspaper strips dipped in rice glue over the perimeter of the window (and any other parts that might admit a draft) when they were winter prepping the house in the fall. This is why most traditional Russian structures dont have big windows.

But let's not split hairs. The first place I lived in in NY was a house in Sheepshead Bay built in the late 40s that had single pane windows (not original but probably dating from the 60s or 70s) and cinderblock walls.

But the one tune I would take to a desert island for the rest of my life is Fish Scale by David Grisman Quintet. David Grisman, Tony Rice, Darol Anger, Bill Amatneek, Todd Philips. The studio version is on The David Grisman Quintet and doesn't seem to be on youtube. But there's a live, reunion version from 2003 that's even better. The audio sucks, but listen close and watch Tony Rice. He does things with a guitar that just aren't natural. IMHO, the greatest flat picking guitar player that was ever born, and goldarn close to Andres Segovia as one the greatest guitar players ever ... ever.

I think it was built in simpler (and cheaper) times. They kept it very warm though. I think it might have had oil heating.
