Baseball Talk

Post by KG Erwin »

You know that spring is just around the corner when spring training begins. I'm a Pirates fan, and I believe that the time has come from them to break out of their 20-year losing season streak. They have the ingredients in place to have a good season, and prevent the breakdowns that caused late-season collapses in the past two years.

So, who do you like and how is your team's prospects for this year?

I kind off like the Rangers. They can be in the race again if they can make it to post season.

Well, I have been a luckless fan of the Kansas City Royals for 30 years. They have a young, hard playing team, with a strong bullpen. But, Cowtown had it's hopes dashed last year, and the year before and the year before...for 27 years now.

I feel your pain. I keep my expectations of the Royals low.

Mariners fan. A 500 record and being more competitive would be a step forward. Having something to watch when Felix isn't pitching. Offense, offense, offense, need more offense the last few years have been tough to watch.

Interesting that I haven't heard from either Giants or the "Evil Empire" Yankees' fans. Which is fine with me, as I find both of them insufferable. Of course, the worst are Reds' and Cardinals' fans, since they are both in the Pirates' division. [:'(]

Oakland A's.

Followed them for the last 20 years. I really enjoyed the end of their year last year. Great pitching talent / scouting. Finally got some bats last year and look out! [8D]

Brewer fan here.

What's a treat is that I'm about 9 miles from their single A team, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.  When one of the Brewers does a rehab game after an injury, it's neat to watch them up here.

No, they need a much bigger bucket of cash rogo. I might send them some of my Billions or Reich-marks.

BAL, I to keep my expectations as low as possible. But still...

I personally despise the "DH-thingy". 40 years of suffrage under the "DH-thingy" still does not make it less evil.[:@][:@][:@][:@]

dodger fan since a baby.  i can remember sitting in the LF pavilion in early 70's, meeting the players before the game as they signed baseball stickers under the pavilion. we would hangout in the bullpen area on a regular basis.

happy magic is on the new group but not happy with all that money getting tossed around. i guess i'm a traditionalist and like to see my team build it not buy it.
i gave up on baseball for a few years in the early 90's but than along came piazza and karros and renewed my interest in '96. but the killer was manny getting busted while in LA.  really lost interest in it.

giants will be tough to overcome as they are so solid.

I can remember going to a Oakland "A"s game in the early 70s and paying two bucks for bleacher seats and watching a double headed.  First game, Mr. R. Fingers was pitching.  Great time.  [:)]

Was never that interested in baseball until the '63 World Series between Yankees and Dodgers. I had to pick a team to root for, so I picked the Dodgers.

Koufax, Drysdale, Wills, Gilliam, Roseboro, Tommy Davis and the boys got it done in 4 games and I've been a Dodgers fan ever since. I'm not as fanatical as I was, but I still like for them to win.

I don't write Universal Law. I just live by it.

Carl Furillo! One of my favorite players when I was growing up in New York City as a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. They moved & broke my heart when I was 17. I am no longer a Dodger fan. Mets & Diamondbacks.

Furillo (The Reading Rifle) was my favorite of all the Boys of Summer. I really wish I'd been around when they were in Brooklyn. That era of baseball is my favorite. It must have been amazing to see that team in that ballpark. I envy you for that.
