Question about the fog

Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog is the first new release (not a re-make of a previous games) in years in the critically acclaimed Close Combat series. It details the desperate German counter-attack at Mortain, the last chance of the Wehrmacht to stave off defeat in Normandy. Can you match the tenacity of the American defenders of Hill 314? Or can you succeed where the Panzers failed, driving through to the sea and changing history? Improved 32-bit graphics and the ability to control more squads than ever bring the Close Combat engine to a new level.

Question about the fog

Post by Thraka »

I've already bought the game, because it's CC and any work for CC should be supported ;), but I have a question about the fog.

I do find it annoying for the simple reason that you improved the look of the game by having higher res graphics and better resolution support but the fog just hides all of this. So I don't get to enjoy it. I know the upcoming patch will give the option to disable it. Does the fog actually affect gameplay, and if so, how?

Thanks!

Yes, the fog does effects game play.  Air support is not available during fog turns, and during battles your spotting range is limited.  This remains in effect even if you visually turn off the fog graphics.

Thanks for the reply. Does fog affect LOS? You mentioned spotting, but I don't know if they are considered the same.

Thanks again!

Yes, line of sight / spotting are effected.  You'll get a 'sight blocked' LOS line from the fog even if terrain is not in the way.
