Quote of the day:
Mrs Fraser: Do you know what "morale" is?
George Truscott, boy: Yeah, it's summing what the Wops ain't got.

ORIGINAL: sprior
I sat down to breakfast this morning and nearly choked on my kedgeree when I saw the Times of India crossword:
1 Across: Victorious
9 Across: Blair
3 Down: Ram
I didn't get 7 Up. Apperntly the answer is lemonade.
HMS Lemonade? Doesn't have much of a carry, does it?

This reminds me of MI5 getting their undies in a wad over Overlord, Utah, Omaha, Neptune and Mulberry appearing as answers in the Telegraph crosssword in May 1944.
I have to admit I don't get the "Ram" bit. Or the "lemonade" thing, frankly. Lemonade is a good thing, right?
Oh wait, crossword answers don't go "up" either....D'oh ..."7 UP'...groan.

And if Admiral Lord Sprior has taken a subscritption to the Times of India I commend his level of immersion.

Near Iba (Luzon): JJ moves closer to San Jose after standing off for 2 days. USS Trigger earns one of those flag thingys on her conning tower. [:)]

Kaga appears not to be hurt badly but it will likely take her out of the action for a bit. Payback for Yorktown.

Halfway between Panay and Jolo: This is near the NW tip of Mindanao where the transport traffic coming up throught the Celebes Sea makes its turn to the East. JJ has identified the weakness here. They send in Satsuki as a solo raider. She is unspotted during her run in. She finds the hapless William S Colley which has been trying to unload TWO 155mm shore guns for at least three weeks at Jolo. Some staff idiot sent her back towards Ternate but she was ordered back to Jolo to finish the job she was given. Then the same staff idiot accidentally sent her to San Jose where she was ordered to turn around and go back to Jolo again. Finally, she accomplishes something useful and uses up most of Satsuki's ammo. [:)]

Make sure the Paki janitor didn't unplug the power supply. Might also be a Chicom plot.
