AA updates in 3.2

Post by strawb »

I have seen the extensive work by various people on updating AA armament during the war on ships using the editor - does this still need to be done/work or does 3.2 start ships with superior AA and/or start with inferior AA and update that automatically?

Thanks

It depends.

British/Dutch/Australian/New Zealand ships:

They start with 1944 AA armament. However, this really only affects a few of the late war battleships that appear early (notably only really the Prince of Wales). Other ships are primarily at their AA maximum.

USN ships:

USN ships start off with 20mm AA armament at 1944/45 max armament, however, 1.1" guns that upgrade to 40mm guns and increase in number to historic 1944/45 max numbers.

IJN ships:

IJN ships start off with historic 25mm AA armament for 1941, then upgrade over the years to realistic AA maximums. The only problem is the Akatsuki DD's, which had a maximum of 30-50 25mm guns, but is limited to 25 of them.

ALL IJN/USN destroyers:

If these types of destroyers experienced an increase in light AA, at the expense of a main gun/turret, then the turret is removed in 1941 (so by 1944 when AA armament is high, they won't have both high numbers of light AA and main guns).

So, you do not have to do any editing yourself to get realistic AA levels.
