Main Poland campaign keeps crashing

On on the second turn of the Polish campaign. Message says I can try to continue but I do and it's frozen at the battle results screen. Happened three times - something about a system out of memory error...

Yes you are not the only one. Probably you have Win7 and have been hit my an ill-considered microsoft windows update
KB2670838.

You have Win7 or Win8?

Anyway. After a week of painstaking work I think i found a complete fix.

Not yet uploaded to matrix, so this can only be tried out by players that know how to manually install a file.

If you can and you have had the bug, please test it out. Preferably with windows8 and/or Windows7 with the KB2670838 installed!

And let me know if it works for you. Best test to see if the bug is fixed is loading the largest scenario a couple of times and trying to save it while in game.

B. If option A does not work for you you could deinstall KB2670838 Update if you have Win7.

Thanks. I downloaded both updates. Got an error message when running them, so I clicked Continue. They seemed to hang up when I ran them. Is that normal? The game (Case Blue) opened normally. I'll let you know if it seems to work...

I'm playing 2nd Karkhov without issues in Case Blue, although that's a smaller scenario.

I played a turn of the Warsaw scenario in WtB and had the same crash.

How do I uninstall KB2670838?

Never mind - I figured out how to uninstall KB2670838. I'll let you know if it works.

I think you are not installing the pre-patches correctly. Please wait on the official installer.

(you had to manually copy the files in the zip into the game directory replacing the .exe there instead of just running the .exe)

Sorry for the hassle. Deinstalling the KB patch will do the trick as well in the meantime.

Your interim "j" patch seems to work ok for me on my Win8 machine. Did not get any crashes.

Yes the bug is fully caused my Microsoft Update (altough Microsoft would probably blame me)

Just be carefull you do not install this KB again, best set your Windows Update to non-automatic for the coming weeks.
