Mouse

Post by ekohippi »

Is it just my comp or does ToS slower the mouse speed.

When I start Battle module, the mouse speed drops like a cows tail compared to normal windows desktop. Anyone else experiencing this? What would fix this (other than setting speed in Windows, as mine is almost maxed already)?

I've had this from version 1.0 to 1.4 and it's pretty annoying.

Sorry. No idea. Never heard of this problem before. WS is using different code so it shouldn't be a reason not to buy it ;)

Yeah, sure to buy it ones it comes out, but the reduction in mouse speed with the current version and all others is significant, on a level that it actually hinders gaming experience. Everything else works like a charm (save the sounds, which occasionally start to break), but the darn mouse cursor is soooo sloowwww......

Well i for one think that the usual routine of formatting your HDD/re-installing windows/and all other aplications/and realising that you hadn't backed up all your files/which includes ToS/downloading ToS again/installing it/and buying a new mouse/and of course a new mouse pad isn't going to work. But you're welcome to try ;)

Sorry i know i'm not helping and it must be annoying. I don't have any mouse problems and the music/sfx sound horrible cos i have a crappy sound-card.

One last thing. What kind of mouse is it,and what drivers do you use? Something usual or some funky hi-tech extravaganza of a mouse. And what version of windows do you run?
cheers

Are you using ToS in Windowed or Full screen mode, or have you experienced the problem with both?

The game doesn't run properly or at all in windowed mode (on my comp), but when I tried, I remember it being slow too in windowed, mosue changed ones or twice, Win 95
Reformatting etc. done many times (but not for this :) ) still no effect.

Current mouse is some basic optical mouse...

So the game doesn't run in windowed mode, the sound is broken as well as the mouse ? Perhaps you should get a new computer.

:) I've thought of that, but I'm short of cash.

The windowed mode "works", but the sounds crash somewhat more often, buttons are too **** small (my eyes aren't what they used to be) and sometimes it just slows down (bad comp)

Mouse isn't broken, it just slows down. Sometimes annoying.

Sounds started crashing when I got SBLive!..

but good customer support! First tip is to buy a new comp j/k ;)

v1.4 freeware isn't supported at all. I would try to help but none of your problems is known. I had a SB Live too and had no sound problems.
I even had Win95 and could play.

Is the mouse movement slow but smooth, or does it jerk from place to place, as if it's freezing up momentarily?

That's very odd. If I get the time, I'll try to duplicate it on a Win95 machine. I don't have the knowledge of ToS that Larkin does, but he's got a lot to do right now.

Larkin, could you tell me what to do to get my windowed modes to workd. the game says it can't find wing32.dll and the windowed (any of them) won't work.

Where do I get this file?

The file is usually installed into the systems folder of your OS.
Its included in the 1.4 archive.

Try a search on your computer, locate the file and place it into your systems folder which is often c:\windows\system.

How can I make my custom setup to be as default in ToS?
Like, I want to have fast animations and short delay on messages.
Everytime I change them in Battle module, they reset to their default values once I start the module again.

I tried editing the binit file, but it didn't work...

Did you uncomment (remove the # sign) from the lines you changed?
Did you save the file? :)
It has to work. It always did.

Make sure you didn't delete any spaces or add any unintentionally, too.
