Intelligence informs us that Japan really wants Port Moresby.

RE: IronMan Nasty!
Looks like Andy got some trauma with Port Moresby, hehehehe. Well: More reinforcements to P.M. or withdraw to save the (precious) aussie squad?
RE: IronMan Nasty!
(Actually I gave Lowpe some treacherous advice re the Burma Div betraying them to their DOOOOOM !!!)

ps actually looks like the Ai just woke up and recognised the hex but more fun to pretend I did it deliberately
RE: IronMan Nasty!
pfffft Halsey got lucky those Betties were hunting his Flattops....
RE: IronMan Nasty!
I will took this scen and add more troops to Japan and will try to win the inwinable.
BTW: Andy, is the AI of this scen compatible with DaIronBabes? (Thanks!)

RE: IronMan Nasty!
Well I have a new version based on this AAR due for release in a few hours.
AI is same as normal AI difference is the tools the AI has and how it uses them - the scen AI is no different the changes are in things like more LCU's so the AI can suffer more
More Flattops and a class of Q ships that provide some organic CAP as the AI doesnt use the CVE's well to cover convoys
I had a good long look round this game when Lowpe sent me a save and I have to say I have lots of new nasty trics coming

We will reinforce Port Moresby! If we can. The AI is doing a great job at stopping supplies into Singapore.
In this game the Allies are fighting everywhere. Some of the precious Aussie units have already been wiped out in the Dutch East Indies.
Although, to be quite frank, the Allies will start to use battleships a little differently. Mostly, in port under repair.

Its a feint the evil AI has a cunning plan
(Actually I gave Lowpe some treacherous advice re the Burma Div betraying them to their DOOOOOM !!!)
Yes, after taking some advice from AndyMac, the 1st Burma Division got trashed. However, the 33rd Division isn't following up on their victory and seem content to hold Pegu -- although the Japanese air power is really punishing the Burmese Army.

Palembang
Wavell stood on the veranda of his headquarters in Palembang and watched the dogfight in the sky. Sleek fighters dove on the bombers and he had lost count of the Japanese bombers that had turned into glowing fireballs as the American P-40’s took control of the skies for now.
Despite his doubts the Admiralty had delivered four squadrons of fighters to Sumatra, and a brigade of troops so Phase 1 of his Singapore relief plan had worked with no ships lost. Yet.
With fighters contesting the air over Sumatra the relief convoy could make a high speed run, but now there was a slight problem on the horizon…

RE: IronMan Nasty!
End of month general notes:
1. Any Mac tweaked the AI twice this past month. It seems sometimes the AI has problems with non base forces.
2. China is stalemated on the ground but Japan is striking in the air heavily.
3. Bataan and Clark fell early in March, but Manila is hanging on by their toenails.
5. The victory point ratio climbed to 1.576 to 1.
6. Where will all of Japan's PI forces go? Burma, China, Cent Pacific, Oz? Japanese air power is really strong in the PI. Looking forward to seeing where it all goes.
7. Andy Mac released a new tougher version of Ironman Nasty...
8. I played 5 turns on very hard instead of hard this month and into April. I guess this is something I will be doing every so often to help the AI out more.

Another slight problem surfaced today in Wavell's plan to resupply Singapore.
The Admiralty's port facilities in Singapore harbor were hit hard by bombers. If they could hit the supply ships with torpedoes or shut the port down...
Resupplying Singapore would be a lot more bloody difficult than Malta. Wavell just knew it. He hoped the Admiralty could get more fighters in or they were all doomed.

Palembang
Once again Wavell watched as the Allied fighters fought for dominance over Palembang. The air raid sirens ran almost constantly, and the distinctive bark of the anti-aircraft artillery could be heard day and night.
So far the Yanks were quite adept at dogfighting and this gave Wavell hope that Singapore could be relieved. So much of his resupply plan relied upon the air force.

However, the Japanese were hitting his support air bases and here at Benkoelen the air base was caught by surprise.

RE: IronMan Nasty!
And the Japanese continued to launch more assaults on Singapore. The defenders were down to half rations or worse and the end would come soon if Wavell could not get supplies to them.

Palembang
Yesterday Manila fell. The Yanks fought bravely, but deprived of supplies their defense was doomed. This would be Singapore's fate Wavell thought bitterly.
But there was still a chance. This morning, at Oosthaven, under a heavy fighter cover, the Admiralty had almost twenty freighters loaded with supplies. Each of the freighters, crewed with volunteers, would soon make the run to Singapore.
This run would be accomplished in two stages. First a high speed run to Palembang, and then another high speed run into Singapore. Wavell was surely sending them directly into harms way, but it was the only way to save Singapore.
The air war north of Oosthaven had been quiet for the last two days. Perhaps the Japanese could not afford this war of attrition, or more likely, they were waiting for the arrival of escorts.
However, while Wavell's attentions were on Singapore, the Dutch still fought hard for Java where they counterattacked to push the Japanese back. The Japanese carriers were striking at southern Java trying to help the encircled 62nd Infantry Group.

RE: IronMan Nasty!
But the Japanese continued their relentless advance, this time striking off the west coast of Sumatra. This could be a real problem for Wavell, but fortunately there was no air base or else this move would have signed Singapore's death sentence.

Palembang
The Japanese air forces strike back in strength, and for the first time penetrate the defenses at Oosthaven and sink a fully loaded supply ship that was to embark for Palembang.
