There are hacks to play offline..game is rubbish though..why give EA and Maxis money for this pile of ....?

They still wont admit they've made a mighty mess of it.

I think the whole Sim City debacle can now be officially classed as an "Omnishambles"
"Omnishambles" has been named word of the year (2012) by the Oxford English Dictionary.

The word - meaning a situation which is shambolic from every possible angle - was coined in 2009 by the writers of BBC political satire The Thick of It.

well Omnishambles does sum it up well how about paying 15 dollars for a single building and this gem nigh on 10 dollars to have adverts removed in the game for each city

“While we feel these real-world locations add a new level of immersion to the city, some might not like seeing these ads in their game,” he continues, “We will allow players, for a small fee of 9.99, to remove these in-game advertisements from their SimCity. We must also note that this only applies to one SimCity on your game.”

Thanks for the heads up wodin, having read through that things are worse than I thought. REVIEW
Seriously can't believe EA would ever release something this bad, just have a look at a few of the images in the review, this reminds me of the fracas with 'The Great Space Race' back in '85, the more folks dig for the truth the worse it gets.

And the CEO of EA just stepped down amongst dismal earnings forecasts.

Today's Escapist editorial sums things up well:

I'm getting Dead Space 3 for free out of this, so it's not all terrible, but as soon as that's in the bag, Sim City is disappearing off my hard drive.

They must have totally under estimated demand with regards to their servers. They've already sold over 1.1 Million copies in an incredibly fast pace, especially considering it was PC only.

They didn't "underestimate" a damn thing. EA aren't morons; some accountant somewhere said "hell no" to buying more servers that wouldn't be needed once the initial rush died down. Poor investment.

I think the accountants said this is how much it would cost and management said hell no. I was really thinking about buying this glad I waited.

Funny indeed, that is some seriously p!$$ed off reviewer.
They've done to Simcity as what the corporate suits have done to Baldurs Gate, BG one of the most memorable RPG's I've ever played... turned into a hack and slash action game for teenagers... [8|]

EA IS a failure. Any company which joins the internet required bandwagon has failed. End of story.

Kids and computer illiterate parents will buy enough of this s@&t to make EA money and cause the perpetuation of this model for all future games. The future is board games.....

You've maybe heard of Blizzard?

EA is run very poorly, and their stock price has been in the toilet for years.
