I think the emphasis is on the Philippines and scenario #2, while also invading Burma, which I admit is quite remarkable against competent opponents. As far as Burma in its own context .. CR right now has Ramree Island in 1942 [;)]

No doubt about it. Hermes can take more punishment than the USN CVE's which are floating gas tanks. Even with 3 "up the chuff" she can make 11 kts.

I think that is even FASTER than her speed before battle. Evidently the water flows in one hole and out the other, therby reducing drag.
