Switching to West Oz is a good plan, thoughts:
get some subs ready to cover the DEI from KB's transit...
also some raiding forces (up to div?) so if KB does go that way you can try to grab a few islands in the CENTPAC...
Cheers

Having the Marshalls help my subs patrols. Recently, I just sent 6 to begin patrols just to the east of Moluccas.

I also like the area around the "ea" of "Philippine Sea" for a couple of Subs .. Oil Tankers going straight to Tokyo pass through that area unless they have Coastal set .. It might be worth for 2 - 3 to patrol just to see if you get a bite ..

OK, now that you have quickly read this post, you can go back to John's and Dan's battle off the NW corner of Australia. [:D]

How are you doing these screenshots with multiple patrol zones shown? I know how to do that with search arcs for your search planes but not for naval assets.
If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?

Townsville - A 'little' overkill in combat power to take the base on 16th.
Cairns - My B-24s from Rockhampton find ships in port on 16th.

The decision was made at Allied Supreme HQ over the last few days to put the invasion of western Australia into effect. Various LCUs will now start prepped for bases. Besides finding KB in the Solomons, the ability to use the restricted Aussie divisions over here was a major factor. I need to force Nick to actively defend a larger front. ETA will be in early to mid-May.

RE: Australia Invaded!! NY59Giants (A) vs Olorin (J)
I forgot to mention that over last weekend, we sent the turn to MichaelM to adjust Japanese fuel (2 million) and supply (1.8 million) that this version of the mod was short. I found this error (along with GreyJoy) and it was fixed in later versions of the mod, but we were too far into our PBEM to restart. Nick feels like Christmas came early. He also got Tracker to work again after uninstalling the latest Java and downloading the version that works with Tracker.

March 19, 20, 21, 22:
Shwebo back in Allied hands, but now without supplies.
Three days of quiet, followed by...
Key: TT = Torpedo; bb = ground bombardment; c = casualties; b = base hits; s = supply hits; r = runway hits; p = port hits; f = fuel hits; AV = Assault Value; DC = Depth Charged; (*) = destroyed aircraft; If odds are underlined, they are the Allies; BG = Bomber Group of 48 planes (4 x 12 bomber squadrons)
Subs:
Pompon gets a TT hit on an xAK between Iwo Jima and Japan.
Sargo hits an xAKL off Geraldton with single TT.
CVs:
Mine are at Melbourne.
India/Burma:
Shwebo - An empty base comes back into Allied hands on 21st.
22nd - Massive sweeps by Tojo!![X(] 42, 54, & 42 find the skies empty. These are followed by Helen bombers with Oscar escorts. 44 Oscars with 53 Helens = 2b, 5s, 22r; 19 Oscars with 31 Helens = 3s, 6r; 37 Helens = 3b, 2s, 7r.
Akyab - 2 hexes to SE is my advancing troops which has Hurricanes on LRCAP. I lose 3 of 6 to a sweep by 42 Tojo. I stand down my fighters after this and give over the defense to my flak units. The same group of Tojo sweep the empty skies on 21st. I try another deliberate attack on the 22nd and get 161:187 odds. the Aussie combat engineers don't help enough.

Norfolk Island - 3 Fletcher DDs are just off northern tip of NZ and go to full speed (38 knots with 11 hex movement) to hit the ships here on the night of the 22nd. A single xAK is sunk with 32 shell hits and 2 TT hits. They also inflict 633 casualties.
Noumea - I try out the air defenses on the 22nd with B-17/24s from Suva. The Zeros do well. 31 Zero vs 18 B-24s & 9 B-17s = 1:1 losses and only 6r; 24 Zero vs 18 B-24s = 1:2 & 6r; 11 Zero vs 9 B-17s = 3r; 4 Zeros vs 9 B-17s = 5r; 2 Zero vs 9 B-17s = 1b, 1s, 2r;

Port Moresby - 35F, 0B, 7 Aux; 10 LCUS - 27940/224/129
Notes:
Burma - My progress here will come down to two factors - supply and PP. I have construction engineers marching from Dimapur to Warazup and should arrive in significant numbers in late April (Monsoons starts in mid-May). I now have Shwebo back in Allied hands, but I need supplies to expand the size 1 AF to allow fighters. I will not be able to LRCAP the AF from Katha and/or Kalemyo in sufficient numbers due to distance (3 hexes). Just too many Tojo to face right now. The Americans have 2 FGs (75 planes each) - one with P-40Ks and another with P-38s. I just got 4x USN fighter groups (18 planes each) at Bombay that are still training and will upgrade from Wildcats to Corsairs and/or Hellcats later. I need another 4 to 6 months worth of PP to buy out additional divisions.
Australia - I looked back in my notes and found its been only 2 months since I took an empty Bourke to start my break out from the southern part. I've just taken a lightly held Cairns. So far its been nothing but moving north and taking almost nothing but empty bases followed by moving troops by rail into those empty bases. I was just able to move F-4/5s into Townsville to do some recon. I WILL need to capture Horn Island, but I was already intending to avoid Port Moresby. I want to keep Nick's attention over here for the next 6 to 8 weeks while I prep for western Australia.

March 23, 24, 25:
Shwebo under daily sweeps and bomber attacks.
Key: TT = Torpedo; bb = ground bombardment; c = casualties; b = base hits; s = supply hits; r = runway hits; p = port hits; f = fuel hits; AV = Assault Value; DC = Depth Charged; (*) = destroyed aircraft; If odds are underlined, they are the Allies; BG = Bomber Group of 48 planes (4 x 12 bomber squadrons)
Subs:
Gudgeon gets 2 TT hits on an xAK off Horn island with troops aboard.
Skipjack get a TT hit on an xAK at Milne Bay.
Harder sinks an xAK off Aogashima with 2 TT hits.
CVs:
Mine are at Melbourne.
India/Burma:
Shwebo -
23rd - Sweeps of 42, 50, & 54 Tojo precede the bombers. Then, 91 Oscars escort in 31 Helens at 9k = 2r. Another 71 Oscars come in with 54 Helens = 4b, 9r.
24th - Weather wins today. [:D]
25th - Basically the same as 23rd, sweeps and then bombers to hit AF. The AF is repaired, but the supply level is 0 and no work on expansion accomplished. [:(] [:@] My 3 light AA and 1 heavy AA units are out of supply.
Akyab - Before another LCU that is moving into the hex from the east arrives, I try a shock attack on 24th.
China:
North -
Sian - AF is attacked by up to 12 Sonia daily.
Lanchow - Up to 9 Oscars with 82 Sally/Helen attack AF along with the troops daily. A ground bb attack takes place on 25th.
Urumchi - Another failed attack on 23rd, 9:71
South - [>:]
Australia:
Lord Howe Island - Up to 33 Mitchell II and 10 A-29 Hudson attack the troops daily. I load and have leaving Sydney two Aussie brigades to invade this atoll. I start to load follow up force of 2 BFs and 2 construction engineer units. This will help me close off easy access to southern Australia and the fleet at Melbourne.
South Pacific:
Port Moresby - I didn't direct my B-25D1s from Cairns to attack shipping here on 25th, but this where they went with P38s. I had set them at 1000' Naval Attack with max range (14 hexes) as there was lots of shipping spread out from Milne Bay over to Horn Island. 21 P-38Gs are unable to defeat 9 Tojo as I lose 2 planes, but the 3 (out of 36 given this mission) B-25s do get one bomb hit on an unloading xAK.
Central Pacific: [>:]
North Pacific: [>:]
Engineering: Ocean island - F2; Ceduna P2; Townsville P5; Maloelap F4;
Recon/Intel:
Horn Island - 47F, 24B - 20 LCUs 29220/275/211 (significant increase in troop number from three days ago). I only have one Aussie division prepping for this base and will need to add another. It is also an atoll.
Port Moresby - 45F - 10 LCUs 28500/213/149
Notes:
Shwebo - Right now I cannot get any supplies to stay here long enough to build up the AF. Supplies read 0 every day and my troops, especially my 4 AA units show low to NO supplies. [:(][X(] I may need to move some out to get supplies to flow. Thankfully, I have a large AA brigade about to arrive. [:)]
PBYs - I own Nauru Island and soon will have Cooktown. The distance between the two is 39 hexes. The extended range of the -5 model is 20 hexes. Thus, I will have some coverage across the Coral Sea and Solomons area. [:)]

March 26, 27, 28:
Two more bases in Australia fall.
Key: TT = Torpedo; bb = ground bombardment; c = casualties; b = base hits; s = supply hits; r = runway hits; p = port hits; f = fuel hits; AV = Assault Value; DC = Depth Charged; (*) = destroyed aircraft; If odds are underlined, they are the Allies; BG = Bomber Group of 48 planes (4 x 12 bomber squadrons)

Sawfish gets a TT hit in an xAK about 10 hexes south of Hiroshima.
CVs:
Mine are at Melbourne.
India/Burma:
Shwebo - Back to the sweeps by 50 and 42 Tojo. Then, follow the 100 Oscars with 56 Helens. AF repairs are made daily, but the supply level stays at 20 and NO expansion of the AF. [&:] Either weather prevented or he stood them down for two of three days.

Base damage is severe 53-100-98. Thankfully, 2 BF and 2 construction units are a day behind. Once repairs start, a PBY-5 will be moved from Sydney over to provide naval search coverage.
Normanton - The empty base is now Allies on 26th. Plans are to expand the base and then use barges to expand into the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Cooktown - A Fast Transport of 10 APDs land some troops from a Construction Regiment on the 27th. The empty base becomes Allies on 28th.

Low capacity xAK/xAP/xAKLs - In this DBB mod there are plenty of low capacity troop and cargo transport. I have two TFs with them. I try to save them from the DEI at wars start as they are useful in the role of moving troops and supplies forward to bases with small to no ports.

RE: Australia Invaded!! NY59Giants (A) vs Olorin (J)
. I need another 4 to 6 months worth of PP to buy out additional divisions.
April + 6 months = October .. Just in time to open a new offense with all the right bases built up [;)] I would say that things are going along quite nicely ..
Also a whole bunch of transports will arrive in this time allowing you to move supplies to the bases deeper in Burma . [But you know that ] .. My comment is to show how a plan comes together like you will have in Burma ...

March 29, 30, 31:
Slow and routine three days.

Colombo - Sees 12 Emily and 36 Nell come from Port Blair to hit the port. They get one bomb hit on a DE which will bee in the shipyard for less than 10 days to repair. I now have the Hurricanes on CAP vs training.
China:
North -
Sian - AF is attacked by up to 12 Sonia daily.

India/Burma:
Shwebo - Same...same. Sweeps by 42 & 42 Tojos followed by Oscars with Helens to hit AF. The bad news was watching the replay on 3rd showed NO AA guns firing. [:(]
Lashio - the base is empty as of the 3rd. Why?? I would say supply flow to the base since I have troops on the road due west of the base to Mandalay. After capture, the Chinese Corp will move east and then SW down the China/Burma border to see if I can out flank him by getting to the trail from Taung Gyi to Chiang Mai.
Colombo - Nick forgets to stand down his Nells from the days' before successful raid (March 31st). The Hurricane commander's chewing out works wonders. [:D] 36 Nells come in to find 13 Hurricanes on CAP. Reports show 13 shot down, but he gets two bomb hits on a CM. Then, 11 Emily come in get a bomb hit on SS Searaven. Cooktown & Cairns - both expand their port levels which should help me get troops up from Cairns to Cooktown. Barges and small xAK/xAPs are in service here.

Notes:
Nasty thought involves use of my Fletcher DDs. Since these 'bad boys' have been causing havoc in Jocke's game, I am thinking of forming two SC TF with 6 DDs each to base at Cooktown once it has expanded some more. Since their speed is 38 and can go 11 hexes at full speed, they will try to hit ships from Milne Bay all the way over to Horn Island to attack any shipping Nick tries to move into these bases. I can add in a Cleveland CL or two if I get them a few hexes out from Cooktown under LRCAP.
Cooktown - Troops flow in from the sea. I plan to get those assigned to this base and Portland Roads here in the next few weeks. Port will go to size 3 before I switch over to the AF (currently size 1).

A question for those familiar with Australia and their railroads. I know that southern Australia doesn't come into play in most games, but it does in mine. The screenshot shows the RR from Ceduna goes east towards Port Augusta, but not all the way. Why not?!?

RE: Australia Invaded!! NY59Giants (A) vs Olorin (J)
no ships should move further than ten hexes per phase, no matter what speed. Haven't tested it but IIRC it's still in the manual.

I know! I know! The girl I dated in high school went to Oz and started a railway construction company, but she still couldn't bring herself to go all the way! [8|]ORIGINAL: ny59giants
A question for those familiar with Australia and their railroads. I know that southern Australia doesn't come into play in most games, but it does in mine. The screenshot shows the RR from Ceduna goes east towards Port Augusta, but not all the way. Why not?!?

Either that, or M&M Enterprises © is branching out from Cap Mandrake's AAR into other areas. What's it worth to you to complete that RR?

I don't know. With this DBB mod, I have plenty of construction engineers I could assign to this project. Since it is in clear terrain, how long would it take?? How many engineers would I need for it to happen??
