Some spectacular views of a storm on the cost of Britanny (West of France) with a small fishboat, the emergency tow vessel Abeille Bourbon and the frigate Latouche Treville.

That is Harry Roughers. Done that in the Bay of Biscay too.

of course you know it's really rough when you're on a submarine and the skipper takes her down another 200ft because there's too much motion on the boat.

+1

. . . we did have deep-water fording kits for our M60A3s -- allowed us to navigate depths of up to three feet, IIRC.

Yech, choppy seas like that. Bay of Biscay is 'famous' for those. Of course when the swells are +60 ft, that doesn't exactly make you comfortable either ...

I,m amazed at the technology behind the ships so that they dont get flipped or broken in two. I,m sure it happens on occasion but wow...that frigate looked like a good candidate.

On a side note there was only one human voice in the video and very quick...I think he was saying "I'm gettin the hell outta here!"

On unrelated (or bit) question, how many of you get seasick?

Since I never did and know several who do.

How come they always put all those rocks and docks and piers right beside the water? That looks dangerous when it is windy. Everything gets all wet.
I don't get seasick but I've never sailed in those kind of waters. Ice is better. [:'(]

When I sailed my sailboat across the Atlantic, I went straight west out of the English Channel, incurring many hundreds of miles of more crossing for the very reason you see in that video, shoaling seas up to a coast that is open to the ocean are a killer.... and I don't mean figuratively. Hal

Spent two days aboard ship, HMCS Ottawa while on a Naval Gunfire course. They bunked the army guys in the bow for the night and then opened the Wardroom bar - it wasn't pretty. [:'(][:D] I'm much better swimming a track or floating on a pontoon raft [:D]

I spent two hurricanes on the surface on a sub. A class 5 hurricane on the surface is one incredible ride. I recommend no one else ever do it. It is like being on a roller coaster for 48 hours straight. It gets boring after about five minutes, but the ride won't stop.

At least sub is safest thing to be in a hurricane.

That all for one crap on or under the sea takes a rare breed, and that ain't me. 'Lost with all or most hands' spooked me. I aint got the 'right' stuff for a career on the sea. of course, I ended up joining the army.

As one of my navy puke friends used to like to say, "Its every last coward for himself in the Army!"

I always preferred to call it initiative and improvisation...
