Georges and Tojos sweep.  Koniu loses 14 Tojos and 6 Georges to my 16 P 40Es, 4 Spit VC, and 4 Wildcats.  Not bad if I do say so myself.

TI
we only have 4 P38s left on the island.  Yay.

Allrighty then, Just came back from a ride down to Fell's Point (B-More) had a few brews (unusual now adays) and it occured to me we could use a picture in here. So I'm going to throw a wobbly dart at my Smithsonian file and post one. (back to the top Joe)

Operation "About Dam Time"

Invasion of the Gilberts. I was planning on going after Tabiteuea first then Onotoa. But I think I should hit Onota first then Tabiteuea.

Tabiteuea: AF 4 Port 1

Onotoa: AF 1

Tarawa: Had fighters and bombers.

Subs are being postioned around the Gilberts, picket ships are in the process of being positioned also. More to follow time to eat.

Operation "About Dam Time"

Exciting! I´ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Are you going to do a prolonged landing or a "hit n run" one?

Joc: I'm going to try for a hit and run

About Dam Time  continued

I've decided to go after Tabiteuea.  I'm shooting for around a 2 day unload time then running for the hills.  I think 2 IDs, Tank unit, 2 Combat ENGs, and a Naval BF should be able to take the island.

I'm pretty sure Koniu has some CVs around Truk, not for sure what ones.  I expect he would be in position to attack within 3 days or so of the TFs being spotted.  I will have around 310 fighters (144 Hellcats), 96 DBs, 66 TBs on my CVs.  Plus alot of surface fleet assets.

I will launch B 25s from Ndeni to hit the AF on D-1.  I am thinking of sending up a small SAG to bombard Tarawa also.  I am also thinking of sending a dummy invasion fleet at PM a few days before my real fleet is expected to be spotted.

Burma:

I am looking at 2 options here. I am leaning towards option 1.

Reasons: I have a lot of Chinese to waste. If I can hold the beachhead I can bring in my IDs and other tank units from Shwebo to take Mandalay, which will give me a good supply line. I know monsoon season is coming but I am flying in a ton of supplies and it will only get better when the Commandos come online.

That decoy invasion might pull KB closer to your real landing so that you only get one day to unload!

Two days of unloading? If you have done your packing properly using 25 APAs you can unload everything plus 20-40k supply in 1 day! [:)]

About Burma,
I wouldn´t worry about supply if you built up Akyab properly. I have had no problems so far. That being said I´m not in monsoon yet. [:D] Walk down and grab Ramree and it will be even easier!

Grab Ramree +1
If your going to put guys in the open I like the hex north of Prome after siezing Ramree. It gives you three crossing hex sides. Doubtful he'll defend in the open or all three. I'm all about cutting off as much "tail" as you can.

Guys:  I agree Ramree Island is a good spot, but marching down the yellow road is a no go.  Koniu has a stack of 13 units blocking the path.  It consits of 6 IDs 1 tank div, arty and AA units.  Ramree has an ID present.  I have been bombing it off and on for 2 weeks or so.  I am planning an invasion.  I just need the ID and ships to make it a go.  ID and ships are on their way.

10-11th May

Carriers unknown,  I still think that the MKB is around Diego Garcia

China
Bombed

Shortlands
We sink an xAK.

North of Ndeni
A 5 ship TF of unknown ships is 10 hexs due north.  They are heading east towards the Gilberts.  I don't know fi this is a resupply TF, amphib, SAG or a bombardment TF headed towards Ndeni.

Op About Dam Time
Ships are on their way towards staging points.  2 subs were sighted off Christmas Island.  I only have some CVs and surface warships their the rest is at PP.

13-14 May

Carriers unknown

Vanimo
Marine SBDs attack a small TF.  They put 3 500 lbers into an xAK and 1 into a DD.

About Dam Time
It looks like I was spotted 1 day out of PP.  One of my Amphib TFs has been spotted by a Jap DB[X(].  An ASW TF was also spotted.

Tarawa
I had a sub hit and multiple other spotted.  i think the gig is up.  I am thinking of turning around and heading back to PP.

With FOW, weather and questionable nav search skills in the mix, it is hard to know if that really was a DB. It could have been a sub or AMC launched search aircraft. Can't take a chance though, so scurry away!

I looked around and saw a sub 7 hex west.  The other TF was spotted by a Nell.  The amphib has a 10/10 DL and the ASW has a 4/4 DL. I have about 8 TFs in the area and none of the others has been spotted even 2 others in the same hex.

Carriers unknown

China
Bombed

Burma
We catch some leaky CAP outside Mandalay.  2 Georges go down for no loses.

Solomons
Have recon of 2 six ship TFs at Rabual.  One contains a CA the other a CL.  HMMM wonder what these are for?  Bombardment?

Other news.  My bombing missions didn't fly, we will try tomorrow.

About Dam Time
TFs are heading back to PP.  2 of them have been sighted by a Jap DB again. They are 1 hex north of PP.  I'm thinking sub scout plane.  I a also wonderng if I shouldn't unload my troops then reload them.  What do you all think.

16th May

Carriers unknown

China
Bombed

Burma
We both bomb.  I hit Ramree killing a little over a hundred and he does nothing to our troops.

HI
E's work over one of our subs.  She will need some yardtime.

About Dam Time
I rearranged my search archs and find nothing in that area.  I guess it was a sub based patrol plane.  But we will wait a while before we take this on again.

17-18th May

Carriers unknown

China
Bombed.  Chunking was swept by 21 Oscars, only 5 of them made it home.  The rest were shot down by our fighters for the loss of 1 Vanguard.  I now have 2 Chinese Aces.

Burma
Ramree Bombed along with one of my stacks moving to its attack postion close to Magwee.  I have had reports of the 8th ID moving to Rangoon for several days now.  I have tried to set up an ambush.  This TF has now been spotted by Nav search.  Subs have been vectored in.  I would like to score some hits on this TF.

Coco's
Bombed

The rest of the map is quiet.

Shortlands has 23 fighters present, P38s will make a suprise visit tomorrow.  Oh yea, we bombed Buna.
