Nothing much to report as I forgot to post this before I played my turn against dascateer. Still giving Ross hell on earth.

Ross aproached me on how do I get my floatplanes to attack shipping with the pretext that people have been asking him how do I do it.. ;) Why has no-one asked from me?

I was 100% positively sure I'd catch a nice 'n undefended transport TF at Cairns. My intelligence chief in charge of submitting me reports based on Naval Search aircraft was sacked accordingly. My aircrews at Lae are enjoying themselves flying Sweep against US troops. Experience is soaring.

This is true....

I am the one that asked ross.

Why did I ask ross? I asked him because I have known him for quite a few years now and converse with him on other boards involving a different game. So, I thought I'd ask him what level you were flying your float planes at, because I've never seen someone get so many hits before with float planes.

So if you want to answer what level you're flying your float planes at for the their bombing missions, I'd appreciate at it since ross didn't know.

I guess that I've already reaped all the possible benefits out of my floatplane tactic so I propably can reveal the secret behind it.

I fly my long-range floatplanes at 10kft and 100% Naval Search. I fly my shorter-range floatplanes (Petes or Daves) at 1kft, Naval Attack and 0% search. I try to use them in wolfpacks, ie 2-3 AV's scouting targets and all availabe CS's behind them ready to close for the kill. If I have the possibility I have AO's in my third line to fuel the AV's and CS's.

If I feel _really_ evil and I know that my adversory is going to do something about the seaplane threat, this being usually one or two CV's sent against my CS's & AV's, I station a strong carrier strike force somewhare close enough to ambush and sink enemy carriers.

Floatplanes... Remember a few turns ago when Ross managed to ambush one of my barge-convoys with a few DD's? Thease seem to be the out-of-fuel remnants of those DD's. Soon out of fuel and out of commission.

Floatplane wars, now that'd be an interesting scenario to build!

Now wait till Ross convinces his B-17's to go bomb those silly little floatplane carriers :)

I have a question about AVs. Do their float planes fly only if the AV is formed up in a TF at a base? Or do they fly even if the AV is anchored ("in port") at a base? I assume the latter -- right?

The latter is correct.

I've been neglecting this because of nothing much happening right now against Ross and he not being able to throw that many turns against me. Last turn was a positive one for me.

Ross sent a TF consisiting of 10+ ships. CA's, CL's and DD's on some misson headed for Lunga. I caught him at extreme range with Dave's, Val's and Kates getting some hits. Not many but I managed to light some fires. Good for me.
