RE: Late february 1946
Yes, bad strike packages going out on strikes for you. Unlucky day. But is it a bad policy to combine CVEs with CVs in one Task force or were they in different TFs?
I noticed that you had very few corsairs with your carriers. I think that is a must for 1945 because the hellcat is not competitive with the Sam.

To be honest this seems exactly like the results i had with Rader. Stock games always end like this... Allied flak is crap and the japanese late war packages simply too much to handle for the CV CAP.
The only solution is DBB with latest beta patch (that slows the coordination issue).
In DBB allied flak is simply a KILLER, even in 1942/43 and japanese naval ASW (even late war one) is close to useless.
But i feel your pain mate...i've been through this myself
RE: Late february 1946
Well, since coordination was tweaked even in stock both Ark and I have noticed that with LBA is much more difficult to coordinate when attacking carriers. So, it might be a little different now. I am just starting to get close to Japan so have not really experienced a massive air attack in my game. I am sure it is coming though.

RE: Late february 1946
Hi guys! I have been a bit busy lately but both of my PBEM's are still ongoing. This one on late march 1946 and the game vs erstad on late january 1946.
crsutton: Yup. The luck factor always plays it's part. No, there were some CVE's in the same TF mostly providing CAP.
Also I use several TF's with follow routines.
As for the Corsairs I will need to double check the turn file. I think I have way more than were flying that day.
Just be careful when operating with your carriers. That might backfire if things go all wrong.
Personally I still do have plenty of firepower left in this one despite the losses.
Greyjoy: I have similar effects vs erstad. The flak is what it is in stock games. If anyone is counting on that to save ships they should reconsider their tactics.
Naval ASW useless? That I have disagree. At least in the official patches it same as nuking the submarines.
I use the subs in deep water hexes but they get annihilated. Either you are doing something "wrong" or my opponents are using the ASW routines on their favour.
I don't know but it is sad assignment to sail with the submarine fleets in both of my PBEM's. I think the game vs erstad is even worse than this one.
The game has now moved into late march 1946.... (short recap below)
Allied B29's have been heavily involved on bombing enemy industrial targets, airfields around the Japan. The japanese are putting up heavy CAP's but we keep on grinding.
I have fighters flying sweep missions from Iwo Jima, Hahaha-Jima and Chichi Jima.
Despite these efforts I doubt I'am hurting him that much since he has stockpiled a lot of engines and such.
As you can see we have now secured the islands around Iwo Jima which is good news for the allied side. We will continue the advance but where and when remains to be seen...
Who knows may even launch an amphibitious landings at Japan... a longshot but who knows.
In Burma we have finally secured Mandalay and routed some enemy forces west of the base. The main defensive line is now at Magwe...
Japanese navy conducted an bombardments off the coast near Akyab. These managed to destroy several bombers but luckily we put torpedoes in few of his remaining battleships.
The carriers providing cover for the enemy forces escaped unscratched.
In Russia we have two major offensives... one at Yenki and even bigger north of the base (Changchuang or something like that). We shall see who will win the battle of attrition here.

This is my win reason for wanting to upgrade my game with Jocke to the newer patch with the coordination 'fix.' He is not ready yet as he is still feeling he is making up for the fact that i had these advantages when i was n the offensive earlier. I completely understand that. I actually am worried as the Japanese player of getting in the kind of strikes we see here and mores those in the GJ/rader game. I think they're out of context for what he game should look like, and if the US can't put up the 'big blue blanket' then they can't prosecute the late stages of the war.
Obviously I wan to use kamis and large strikes against naval targets, I just don't want the kind of strikes that can derail the game as they did in the GJ game.

THE END 1946
THE END / SUMMER 1946
I have finally finished off one PBEM game I started a longtime ago.
First I would like to say that I highly recommend katsuragi as an opponent. He is definately skilled and stubborn player.
Personally feeling a bit exchausted at the moment but it feels good to have this one in the bag!
I will post some screenies from the game file...
What was the low points on the game? Again have to say the submarine warfare since the ASW is badly broken in stock scenarios.
Also, not a big fan of "statosphere" air vs air fighting but can live with it.
I'am a bit disappointed that was not able to finish the imperial navy completely off. A bit more luck and it might have been diffrent story and skill is also an factor.
The best play was that I was able to push off major japanese offensive in China. It was an close shave and had that gone bad... well things might have been ugly.
How the ended.. allied troops finally got through in Burma and we were just days off from Rangoon. The brave japanese army was in full retreat.
Allies were planning an invasion to either Okinawa or Home Islands itself. That did not go through since my opponent played aggressively with his naval assets.
KUDOS to him doing that.. those operations were postponed and never got green light again.
We managed to secure Iwo Jima and surrounding islands.
In Russia the ground war was very bloody and I'am pretty confident that Manchuko army just barely survived in this one! Again it did survive so well played...
I did bomb japanese industrial assets daily with heavy bombers! How much I actually hurt him.. not sure. This was an scenario 2 game so I think his assets were still in good shape.
Both sides lost a lot off ships! ...but never was able to hurt his tankers enough.
Really don't know but one thing for sure I have utmost respect towards katsuragi! He is an gentleman and very tough opponent!!!
Also when/if I start new PBEM games Dave and Chris are the only two persons I need duel againts! Lucky to have such an opponents...
For now though here are the screenies... (I still have the game ongoing vs Dave.. and need to update that AAR soon)

Congratulation aztez! What an achievement! [&o]
How long before you will start to feel...empty and start another game? [:D]

RE: THE END 1946
Thanks! Appreciated! [:)] ..and yes I do feel a bit "battle fatigue" actually.
I need to finish the game vs Dave as well (March 1946 currently)... and will take a bit time off before decieding whether to start new PBEM.
I have two excellent opponents (Dave and Chris) but you really need that mental attitude to know that you will eventually finish the game.
Unless I'am not 100% certain than I will not commit myself into any PBEM.
Actually very odd feeling to know that no turns from this game are incoming.
