Otto Skorenzy quest (OT)

Post by Toey »

Hey fellas,

You guys have a great depth of knowledge on WW2. So, I was wondering if I could pick your brains and find out if any one know any site or book on Otto Skorenzy. Not just stuff he did in the Battle of the Bulge, but also other operations that he was involved in.

Thanks

There were several books at Amazon:

Didn't his unit rescue somebody in Budapest with King Tigers? That might be neat mini-scenario.

"...at the end of the war he went and lived in spain and went back to engineering"
And in his spare time, was a creator and major player in the Odessa, and Spinne which were "undergrounds" to spirit wanted SS members out of Europe with new identities.
I believe he was also involved in setting up the training program for the Werwolf Resistance Groups...

Was consulted by Gen Salan and the plotters of the 1961 Algiers putsch. Gave non-committal answers and declined to have anything to do with it because "Generals do not make good plotters"

The Osprey Elite series has an interesting (and inexpensive) book on Skorzeny.

"Ardennes, 1944 Pieper and Skorzeny"
by Jean-Paul Pallud and Ron Volstad

You'll find some fascinating reading there.

The History Channel recently had a special on his special forces and their exploits during the war.

What's this blowing up Finnish entertainment centre? Was that for fun, for bad show or was it a military operation. Tell me more, my curiosity needs info.
