Good morning. CB, going out for the fishing...err, ice fishing opener?[:D]

Nah. Wife unit works 1.5 days this weekend, so I'll be corraling the young 'uns. Unless...

...Say, Shanilec, how far are you from Fargo? And how many seats 'ya got in your boat? [;)]
72 boring miles. We'll tie an inner tube to the back of the boat for ya'.[;)] Though not much fishing around these parts, still 12 to 20" depending on which lake.

Twin Cities cold? Sissies.

He doesn't need a boat. Just a truck and an extra seat in the ice fishing shed.

Sounds like a lad with his head screwed on right. All this navy stuff is unnatural...[:'(]

His head is screwed on right, but it has nothing to do with his preference of service branch. [:D]

Found it on the website! There is a flypast commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic at Greenwich. Unbelievable - why didn't they advertise it?!?!?!?

Seeing that Swordfish has made my day [:)] Funny to see loads of blokes looking intently up at the sky on my way home - while women just carried on walking [:D]
Warspite1,

The Swordfish and the Catalina I get, but why the Helis associated with the "Battle of the Atlantic"?

I'm guessing that the FAA was trying to do a "Heritage flight" equivalent. But they retired the last Sea Harrier. So if the FAA has no fixed wings , you use what you have. And that's helo's. [:(]

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, been a busy boy.

The RN do have a heritage flight of sorts. But compared to the RAF's BBMF it's a smaller effort that's (iirc) got far more civvy involvement. They've got a mix of stuff, but there isn't much WW2 era FAA stuff kicking about really, a couple of Swordfish and a Firefly is about the lot I think*. They've got a Sea Fury, that came to CGY for a visit last summer but the pilot taxyed his a/c into some steps...

There wasn't much call for Seafires post-war, let alone Fulmars, Barracudas or Albacores. The BBMF are lucky that Spitfires were used quite widely after the war so there are a lot still around.

*Old Warden have a Sea Hurricane as well, the only flying one of her type surviving.

Good morning!

Buried in Federation and Empire Q&A for the day... Will attempt to surface occasionally to look around. Otherwise, run silent, run deep.

Good evening friends.

Back from Belgium/Holland.
Well, what did your liquid refreshment reconnaissance in force teach you about your preferences? A full SITREP, if you please. [8D]

ETA: I guess it would be an After Ale Report (AAR) or After Pilsner Bulletin (APB)?

A tip for 'action / adventure' directors: try to have some, will ya? Otherwise, theatre audiences may be bored waiting for anything interesting to happen. [>:]
