Carriers unknown

China
Bombed.  Japs attack Lanchow and Sining with nothing to show for it.

Burma
Japs bomb some units in the open again.  He hits a tank unit on the 2nd disabling a few tanks.  The next day he hits another stack.  Opps I slipped in som AA units.  He loses 35 Helens with a bunch more damaged.  They won't be bombing me for a few days.  It looks like hes evacing Mandalay and Magwe.  I saw 2 units yesterday and only one their today. He's starting to move his fighters around to different bases now. As soon as my units are in place I am going to cross the river between Mandalay and Magwee.

Rabual
Arognaut lays a mine field here and puts to live fish into the Mutsu.  She is reported to have heavy damage.[:D]  I am vectoring subs incase he decides to send her away.

Funfati
Love that name.  I saw a small SAG coming towards this island on the 2nd.  I tried to get my ships out but 2 xAKs go caught and were sank.  2 DDs were sent to engage them but didn't, the Jap SAG was also able to get out of range of my DBs and a CL SAG positioned to the north.  Oh well.  Still happy about the Mutsu and all the Helens.

Moving assests around so I can start my next offensives.  Goodenough Island look like a good place.  Still some time away but I am not going to back down.  Saratoga will make Pearl next turn.  She will get priority when she gets their.  She only has 1 major point of damage and about 40 total damage to everything.  Lexington is still a ways away from the WC with alot of major damage to be repaired.

Go get him! Its a big mistake of him to try and defend the clear terrain in central Burma! Be wary of Jungle/Rough hexes (3x DEF). Its hard enough to dislodge the Jap in x2 terrain.

Carriers unknown

China
We lose 11 B25s trying to bomb a tank rgt.  Japs capture Lanchow. I am thinking about sending some Chinese troops into Indochina. What do you guys think?

Burma
Koniu loses more Helens trying to bomb one of my stacks.  I am now moving across the river between Mandalay and Magwe.  I will try and outflank him when we get tot he rough terrain.

Solomons
Koniu is clearing my mines.  No sign of Mutsu.  I am moving all my subs that can carry MK12 back to port for mine laying ops.

Saratoga reaches PH and has 49 days before she can leave the harbour.

6th June

Carriers unknown

China
Bombed.

Burma
Troops moving to cross the river.  I am assuming that Koniu is going to withdraw to the jungle hexs.  I don't want to fight him here so I am looking for options.  But for right now.  I will move on and see what he does.  I have a few plans in my head.

Solomons
Georges sweep and find nothing at a dot base.  Koniu is looking for leaky CAP.  B25s sink 2 xAKLs off Munda.

We both ding a sub.  But I hit harder with 2 penetrating hits. I am going to be a little more aggressive with my subs.  I am going hunting for his tankers.

Shot in the dark!

Post by DOCUP »

7th June

Carriers unknown

China
Bombed. Georges sweep Chungking, they find Lancers and Vanguards.  2 Georges are shot down with 4 more op losses, while 4 Vans and 3 Lancers are lost on our side.  Not bad.

Burma
Japs are pulling back from Akyab area, they are on the yellow road next to Ramree Island.  We bombarded last unit left, it was an SNLF.  Tomorrow we do a deliberate attack.  It does have a movement arrow so it may move out before we can attack.

Timor area
Lomblem had a port sign show last turn, so I decided to bomb it this turn.  Shot in the dark hit the bullseye.  Yamashiro is hit by 15 500 pound bombs, last seen with heavy fires. I know atleast one of her main guns was destroyed.  We also hit CAs Mikuma, Kako, Suzuya with 1 500 pound bomb each.  I ordered a night attack (not holding my breath on this one 27% moonlight).  Sweeps will happen by P 38s and B 24s will follow on during the daytime.

Bismark area
I have a BB SAG moving towards Turk.  I have a sub in the same hex as the TF with no DL.  I have some hope it will shoot at something.  I am also moving subs to its assumed path.  Intel shows the Mutsu sunk but I don't believe it.  Is she really only worth 222 points?

China
I forgot to stop a Chinese unit from moving north to Kungchang.  They were attacked by Japs today.  They held their own.  I am withdrawing them now.

Burma
Looks like Koniu is pulling all his units out of the plains area.  He is still keeping his troops at Lashio and Bhamo.  I think this is a bad move, I'll just isolate them off the trail and let them rot in the jungle.  I am ordering units to cross the river.  We hit the LI at Rangoon for a few points.

We had 2 ASW actions this turn both with several CLs in the Jap TFs.  One was off Victoria Point and the other was in the Straight of Macca.  I don't know which way these TFs were heading.  I should find out about the Victoria Point the next turn.  Hell they could be the same TF.

How is the supply in Burma? Have you built up the Indian bases on the border to max?

Joc:  Almost maxed out on the Indian Burma border bases.  Supply in Burma acceptable.  But can't sustain a lot of combat ops right now. Flight ops will be a problem, not for sure how many fighers I will be able to put in the air when I start to capture bases.  It looks like he is pulling back to the jungle hexs.  I will try and flank his units.  I expect with this I will spread his units out pretty thin.  That is something I want right now.  I am forming a big plan, but my plans usually suck and end in a horrible defeat.

China
Bombed.

Burma
Jap units moving south.  We hit one and cause some damage.

DEI
Atleast one of the CL TFs was heading south thru the Straights of Macca.  The attacked the same sub but did no damage.  SS Cisco finds a TF of small Jap tankers and sinks 2 of them[X(].  Holy cow folks.  So far my new war againist his tankes is working.  I'm sure this will force Koniu to bring in some air and sea ASW and reroute his TFs.  Thats fine I'll find away around whatever he does.

Solomons
We are landing troops on Goodenough Is. We put 8 hits on an RO boat leaving it on fire near PM, this can't be good.  Also I seen 2 DDs attacking this sub in the same sequences.

HI
We sink an xAK.

I have been listening to Bull.  So I am now going after his LI, Oil, and such and trying something different with my subs.

After reading Qballs AAR.  I decided to ask Koniu if he had maxed out any of his squadrons.  He said he had and that many of them were for training only, with only 2 in combat but they were broken down into fragments.  We discussed what we should do and I got confused with what we were doing.  I think I made him mad and it wasn't my intention.  I don't care if we max out squadrons or not. It has pros and cons for both sides.  I just didn't want to break the game. I know he mentioned it in his AAR.  He did tell me some stuff about what he wrote and was mentioned. Back to the war.

Carriers unknown

China
Bombed. A tank rgt attacks a withdrawing group of Chinese.

Burma
we close Bhamos AF and damage Lashio's AF.  Koniu closes Mandalay AF.  Nothing their to defend it so it's easy pickings for him.  Tomorrow I'm going after Prome.  I have sweeps LR CAP and escorts going in with 4Es and 2Es.  This will probably be the largest bombing raid of the war.  Thats if everything goes in as planned. Prome dosen't have any figters present.  We also hit Rangoons LI for a few hits.

Babo
We hit his oil fields for a few points.  I had my bombers to high, we will try again tomorrow.

Solomons
Helldivers fly at night and attack a Jap BB at Rabual.  They miss.  For some reason I guess it has high system damage it was smoking in the replay. I sent a group of bombers in during the day time to see what he had in the air.  Well he had pulled his fighters out for the day.  So we got a free bomb pass.  We made it count.  We sank 2 mini subs a regular sub and an AKE with a few port hits.  Not bad.  He told me he had fighters their now so no daytime bombing now. I am also sending in a sub to check the hex out.  Maybe I can get lucky with another TT into a BB.   I see a 3 ship TF heading towards my island bases around MB.  Don't really know what it is.  I might find out tomorrow.

Trying to get things into postion for upcoming ops.

Is there some kind of advantage to larger squadrons? Does it simply allow one to have more aircraft at the front? I'll take a peek in Q-Balls AAR when I get a chance. Don't forget report on "big raid"![8|]

Kurt: More AC on the front bigger sweeps.

China
Jap ID attacks and forces a retreat of several small LCUs in the north.

Burma
Koniu bombs some units in a rough hex.  We go after Prome 3 sweeps go in first and do Ok.  Corsairs and Tbolts do the best.  They find over a 100 Tojos and 22 Georges.  One 2E group goes in unescorted and gets hammered, the rest have some escorts with them but the still take a beating.  We do some damage to the AF.  We lose 14 P 38s, 15 Wellingtons, 9 hudsons 5 Hellcats, 5 beaus, 3 Corsairs and 3 Tbolts for 28 Tojos and 9 Georges.  I'm pretty sure that more Georges went down than that.

Babo
We hit his oil some more.

I take it that the late war air combat involving really large numbers of aircraft is still subject to Greyjoys AAR against the HI. I'm going to do some more reading and check back. Are you playing with a HR altitude band? I,m getting worried about the Tojo now.

Kurt: We are playing with the 2nd best MVR.  No need to worry about Tojos.  Their good planes but they can be handled.  P38s tear them up.  Corsairs did good this time around.  Layered CAP does good againist them.

12th June Continued

Solomons
AASW sinks one Dutch sub and heavily damages another.

Burma
Looked at the air loss totals again.  It shows us losing 60 total planes and Japs losing 62.  Counting everything up on my list Japs are short 13 planes, I bet they are Georges.  I hope, it would make me happier to know that we shot down more than what is shown.

Lets see if I have this right.  Babo has oil 7 (14) does that mean that the 14 is damaged and only 7 points is working?
