House rules are as follows for now, but could change as this progresses.
Iraqi units cannot move until June and then only 2 Infantry Brigades and 1 air unit. In July, the Iraqi player can move the 3rd Infantry Brigade. The Nablus Mechanized Bde can move in August or September haven't decided. Israeli units cannot enter Syria, Lebanon, Transjordan proper(across the Jordan river) or Egypt until 1949.
I'm trying to figure out how to bring Britain and France into play, but since I suck so bad at programming haven't figured this out yet. The trigger for British intervention would be once Israel enters the Sinai I'm thinking and for French Intervention, if Israel would invade Lebanon above the Litani river.
Unit sizes- each unit point equals 200 men so a Bltn size force of 5 infantry/militia would be 1000 men. each machinegun/mortar/bazooka would be platoon in size. each tank point equals 10 tanks, so a btln of 5 tanks would equal 50 tanks. 14 planes would be 14 planes and so on.
as for the air units, since each hex is 7.5km, what would you all recommend the ranges be. also the the only nations which will have rangers (commando's) will be the Israeli's, British and the French.
i would have used the fields but they seem to cover up the hill hexes, so does anyone have a fix around this...
i'm wanting to add supply depot's which HQ's can draw supply from. these will not take the place of drawing supplying from a city or town, but just add another way for HQ's to get supply. My problem is I don't know how to make them work exactly and if they should be mobile or not.
Towns will only produce supplies, ports will produce planes, vehicles too signify military aid, as well as resources. Once I get the fuel event to work then this may change. Cities will produce infantry, supplies and transports, but trains are really, really expensive to produce may not even allow them to be produced at all, haven't decided. Israel has a arms factory which will produce supplies, and artillery but if destroyed cannot be rebuilt.
a regular tank/plane or artillery factory can be built but it will be hugely expensive example tank factory will cost 225 EP, where a plane factory will cost 235 EP. some units cannot be upgraded above level 2, such as levelbombers. Strategic bombers can only be used by Israel ( they actually had several B-17's) but do not actually know how many. so i have given them 3-4 but cannot produce anymore.
Research will be expensive as well, by 120% or this is how it is suppose to work. Militia is setup where they take a -10% on their morale. so Arab base morale is 45 so if this works like i think it should they should show 35 base morale. the other morale for each nation is 100 though. Also militia experience level will also take a -10% hit or it should.
I'm not sure how to handle Britain or France right now, any thoughts. I'm also tinkering with the victory objective and don't quite know how which way to go yet, victory points or something else. I'm trying too make this as realistic as possible and don't want a crap load of units on the map. So i'm hoping the supply will work and help limit the size of the forces on each side, so we'll see. i'm also thinking about making the length of turns instead of 30 days, somewhere between 2-3 weeks a turn. will see how the 30 day turns do first before changing this though
I still haven't figured out the supply depot problem, so for now scrapped that idea. i'm going to try and upload this scenario this weekend, fingers crossed. Britain and France are asleep, each regime can request ore and oil each turn with a cost of 5 PP, thinking about increasing the cost to 10 but have not decided.
First Arab Israeli war has now been posted. Still a work in progress, will appreciate any mistakes I have made or idea's on how to redo the victory conditions. Right now there are 100 victory points and the first Arab player gaining this by conquering all of Israel will win, and vice versa, Israel wins by gaining 100 victory points.
House Rules-
Iraqi player is allied with TransJordan but cannot move any units until middle of June. No Arab nation can ally with any other Arab nation with the exception of Palestine. All Arab nations can be allied with Palestine only. TransJordan is the exception, as they can be allied with Palestine and Iraq but no other. This is to signify the disunity among the Arabs when they fought Israel in 1948-49 war. This also should make it harder or at least I'm hoping anyway for the Arab player. Feed back is greatly welcome.......
