Big disappointment

Post by nadia911 »

Hello people of the forum, I write here to express my disappointment with Commander - The Great War, strategy games (board and / or PC) are my hobby for many years (25 or 30) and never, repeat, never I have been so great disappointment with a game.
I bought it, I installed it, I applied the latest patch, I played the German campaign, effortlessly won it, I uninstalled and removed it from the hard drive.

Never will play again...

The reasons are too many to expose in detail, but to summarize, the AI and strategic variables are ridiculous and turned the game into a torture just wanted it to end once.

Sorry, I want someone to be offended, not my intention to attack or offend, just to express my displeasure.

Sorry again.

Excuse my english.

Don't give up.

1: For now try a game as Entente

2: When the next patch comes load it and try again. I am very disappointed in the latest patch but the game has great potential and you need to give it more of chance.

Ok, so I gave the game another chance, but I see that there still seems to be a few AI "cheats" that I cannot find fair, and that imo needs to be changed;
1. I've seen the AI attack with a unit, then another unit switches places with it and attacks as well. This is not possible for me it seems...
2. If my units are out of supply at the end of the enemy turn, and then on my turn ends up in supply, they are still treated as out of supply in the following enemy turn. If an enemy unit is out of supply at the end of my turn, but moves into its own territory during its own turn, then when it is once more my turn, the enemy is considered in supply.
3. During winter season the enemy is allowed to attack my units with impunity (I have better trained troops and am dug in, yet the enemy kills a garrison with 3 attacks and an infantry with 4). If I attack on the other hand, I will usually take 3 casualties for myself and inflict 0-1 on the enemy.

the ground game is influenced by several factors
random die roll.. most interesting aspect imo
or
the quality of the unit.. where is it in the research upgrade path?
or
is it dug in
or
does it have a general
All these go far, but I share your pain, its frustrating to see my troops walk up and have a lowly garrison stand up like a fanatical SS uniot... but it does balance out in time..
no idea about the attack and switch, I hought it was an errant symbol and only showed an artillery bpombard..
goo luck, it does get easier

1. Do not se many random rolls, seems more like max throws for the AI and minimum ones for me, all the time.
2. Mine are "more advanced" than the enemy, does not help.
3. Yup, does not help much.
4. Some do, some does not. Still not a big effect.

Sorry, but imo this game is not a good one. Add the fact that the times I have tried, USA enters the war after 2 convoy attacks, and those convoys allows the UK to build tons of ammunition factories, and then simply bombard you into the stone age...
Fear I will have to say that this is the only matrixgames title where I have felt I have made a crappy deal.
Oh well, uninstalling now.

I would try on easy s the entente.. and then work your way to harder settings.. I actually think it is a great thing that the game is challenging.. good luck .. I have found the game runs in winning and lossing cycles.. and it is frustrating to see the down side, I have NEVER had USA enter ... dont use subs against convoys..
