Air

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

If you're playing against the AI on normal then the 25% combat bonus seems to severely hurt your planes... best to conserve them and concentrate on one area, or spend PP to buy replacements which more often than not will be the better FW190's.

Enjoy the early superiority as come winter the VVS will be full of Yak7's!

ok.. I have bought three rounds of fighters.. every time I load up it seems there are fifty red air fighters to my one... does the bnormal setting allow the ai to have no stacking penalty?

Also make sure you don't overstack! It sems there's a limit of 100 planes (a stack of 20) per city (airfields).

In my current game, I thought I was smart and piled up a ton of planes in forward cities, and realized after a few turn that they were having a -48% bonus!! Let's say it solved the mystery of why they were dying like flies... So watch for the green square, it's a clear indicator of the stacking/overstacking value of Air Units.

Also thanks for reminding me about the 25% bonus the AI has on normal - it helps me understand why my planes are having a hard time, even without being overstacked.

Yesh the Air War is very fluid in the game. Reminds of of Naval systems in other games... Very fluid, no real territory, no zoc, etc.

there was some kind of bug early in the game resulting in huge ai interception fleets. make sure you updated the game.
if you play the ai it may makes sense to cheat a little: look where his air bases are and do some attacks on them on the first turn.

Well in this game my planes are regularly intercepted by stacks of 4 x ~20 Russian planes.
Is about 80 FTG considered "huge ai interception fleets"? (It seems like a lot to me, and I wonder what's their OS penalty)
