List of top pilots

Post by Chris21wen »

Am I missing something here. This list only shown pilots from fighter units? Where are the pilots from bomber units?

Pilots only appear on the list if they qualify to be on it.

As the number of pilots who have scored a kill expands, eventually a minimum number of kills is required to appear on the list. Not too many bomber pilots are going to become aces so eventually they are going to be squeezed out of appearing on the list. early in the campaign when the criterion to appear is only 1 kill you will see bomber pilots with a single kill on the list.

On the same theme, is there a (non-complicated) way to see what happened to non-fighter (meaning non-ace) pilots?
This would be useful for us AAR writers.

I believe that the only time you'll be aware of an event involving a non-fighter pilot is when a unit's CO is involved.

(The Top Pilots list shows only pilots who have been credited with a kill. Other highly experienced pilots can be listed if you move them to Training Command, and then access the TRACOM list via the Reserve button on the Pilot Replacements screen.)

Use Tracker, filter out Fighter pilots, should leave the Bomber Drivers.

So the only pilots with kills can get on this list then? The list should be call 'ace list' not 'top pilot list'. Not sure what bomber pilots with 80+ ex etc would think of that probably something like 'Dam fighter jocks think there gods gift etc.'

Your bomber pilots will show up on that list, as soon as they managed to shoot down some fighters [:'(]

since I have been playing WITPAE from day 1 release...I have never seen a Japanese bomber shot down a fighter...but I am sure there has been losses from them.

The pilot "honors" in game tends to be fighter pilot centric. The only pilots that get promoted are fighter pilots too.

This pretty much comes from the original game.

I am a huge fan of the GG pilot promotion system!

Just another example of how well this game reflects the real world (based on some of the pilots I work with...) ;)

I HAD (being the operative word here!) an ACE B-17 pilot by April of '42.... unfortunately his electronic remains have never been recovered.
