Moving the on map boss

Post by con »

Hi I want to move the on map boss but not all the subordinates to it. When I select it (I am in the Elsenborne Ridge Scenario) it gives me a gigantic footprint. I just want to move the individual 1st SS Panzer Korps HQ unit only.

Any suggestions

Thanks

The way I do it to detach all of the subbordiante HQ's first with their orders, then issue individual orders to the remaining attached forces (supply base, engineers, artillery, etc.) leaving only the "boss" remaining. Not advisable however IMHO.

That's the only way I know to do it too - as RangerX3X says. Get to the on-map boss last. Footprint might still be huge (not sure) but the effect will be as you intend - only the boss will move.

Thanks for the tip. The reason I was wanting to do this was I thought I would be able to reduce the order time delay by moving the on Map Boss closer to the front line. By day three in Elseborne I have a lot of detached units fighting in pockets in the north and south of the map and the center is pretty secured. I wanted to put the boss closer to the secured center thinking this will reduce my order delay to these units.

Am I wrong in this assumption? Or does the act of moving the Korps HQ actually increase order delay since it is effectively out of action during the move?

Thanks

Someone from Panther/Matrix may chime in here on this, but I think the command load on the map "boss", and any HQ type unit for that matter, is something set in stone in the code regardless of the number of units you may detach from them.

You don't need to move the on map boss in the Elsenborn scenario as the command Range is greater than the map area.
You may need to move the Division HQ's but not by very far.

Thanks for that info I was working under the assumption that they had to be a lot closer. Though it reads in the manual above that it is good practice to keep the organic HQs close.
