Long term plan

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Oh yeah, this is what I have been wondering all the time especially after finished with decisive victory, I talk to myself, this could change the whole history, we might be able to push to Antwerp eventually, I might have to speak German now... OK, a bit of too much...

I (sort of) have been doing something like this.. a great idea, but I can tell you, it is easy to drown in it. For myself I have had to put it on hold because I have several other projects going on, and between them, and rl, it just blew every moment of my time... I may be interested in your cooperative play however, but again the other projects and rl.... I will check back in some days and see if you have any takers, and go from there.. but to repeat myself, it IS a great idea, I have always wanted that in several games that came with editors, to play scenario by scenario, and update the next, depending on how you did in the first.

Thanks for the reply navwarcol

Looks like it is just you and me at the moment.

So to get this straight, someone would play their individual scenario and they would all join up in an AAR to show the different sections of the attack?

I'm im [:D]

Yes mate, that's right.

All you have to do is start your own AAR thread for your battle, and post screen shots to it at 12 hour intervals with a short description on how its going.

Then when I get to that stage in my own AAR I will update the strategic battle maps as seen here:

tm.asp?m=3331688&mpage=2

With the info from your own AAR thread.

There are 2 scenarios at this stage of the battle up for grabs.

Hofen Ho-Down. A short scenario on my Northern right flank, which end there unless someone can make another one further west.

Losheim Gap a large one to my South, left flank, that goes on to many more after that.

Not sure if I will get this far but what I was hoping to do then, was start a thread to discuss, how we should edit the scenario maker to reflect the troops we have managed to bring forward to the next stage of the battle, with regards to experience, equipment etc.

If one of us does exceptionally well we may decide to send some of our units to one of the others players scenarios as reinforcements to arrive at a realistic time that we decide on.

I can post the edited scenarios to the forum as attachments so anyone can try them.

There is no limit on how many times you can try for a better result, but the house rules are no re-loads unless it was an interface error.

Ill use the best result to carry forward to the next stage of the campaign.

Well that's the dream anyway.

Like I said its long term play. Could take years!

You can start when ever you like.
It will take me a long time to catch up with you though, but nothing stopping you from doing several run trough's if you like, then we can pick the best one.
Would be good if you can save your games at the 12 hour marks as well, in case I need more info on the units locations, or better screen shots for the overlay.
I'll PM you with my email address.

Have anyone taken on the Hofen Ho-down scenario yet? Otherwise I am willing to give it a go.

I am interested to see if I have learnt something from my last attempt, and what differences the new patch makes AAR.

Anyway, here is my plan:
